Has anyone else seen it? If so, what are your thoughts on it? It kinda makes you think. I mean obviously its just a movie, but I wonder what their source material was. Like the stuff about finding number sequences in the Bible, I've heard about that before but I can't remember where from...

I just found it interesting.

I've seen pi, although not in a while. I'm pretty sure that the hebrew alphabet is also used as numbers, which means that anything written in Hebrew could be converted to numbers, although I don't know if there's a theological significance to that.

I saw this movie a few days ago... very weird movie.

On another note, they must have produced that movie for under 10k, but the effect it gives really adds to the movie.

Great movie, one of my favs. the editing and syncing it to the music is second to none.

I bought Pi and Memento to see for the first time in the same night. I took Pi back to the store the next day... it's really not that great when you have something to compair it to.

    I love the soundtrack though.

I didn't like it as much as Requiem for a Dream. Requiem for a Dream was a masterpiece, this was medium.

Requiem for a Dream was a nice film, but I didnt like the sound track, I think kronos quartet are over rated, that one piece ('summer' iirc) with the repeating 'duh nuh nuh!' violins drives me barmy.
  • BanzaiBanzai Join Date: 2004-10-19 Member: 32355Members
The funniest thing about the film was they never got any filming permits to shoot anywhere
so they always had a lookout for cops so they wouldn't get caught. That must've helped
    production cost a bit.
But I can just imagine what someone would think if they'd stumbled across them filming
    the brain scene.

Whats kind of scary is that I have almost identical beliefs to Max's.

What I don't quite understand is how some of you group all 'high concept' movies into the same category and then expect them to outperform each other...
  • Cereal_KillRCereal_KillR Join Date: 2002-10-31 Member: 1837Members
Maybe because Pi and Requiem come from the same director, I don't know...

PI is and will be one of the best low budget movies,, and concentrates around a totally difference subject than requiem. being one that saw PI before requiem, the editing and syncing was only what was compareable, imo.

i dont see anyone comparing Lord of the Rings to Bad Taste when it comes to PJ <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I've seen it several times, I'm rather fond of it.

Certainly numerology is part of the kabbalah, so there's a basis for the story somewhere.

meh, I put it right up there with "Jesus Christ: Vampire Hunter". You gotta see it once, and then you can spend the rest of your life looking forward to never watching it again.

Yes, the music to Requiem for a Dream is delightfully horrible.

I .....I've forgotten what the thread was originally about now :/ Something to do with Pi. Great movie, anyhow. Did anyone else make a connection between the opening line regarding staring at the sun and the film being shot in black&white? I wouldn't be surprised if the budget was a reason for that, but that was a cool half-explaination for it. The whole aura given off by filming in B&W lent a lot to the film in general I think.

50 bucks says DOOManiac has pi memorized up to 1337 digits
