    My sister decided to have a house party once when my father went fishing for a week.

    End result?

    3 smashed windows, destroyed ~30" TV, and a stolen DVD player.

    I obviously don't recommend it, unless you honestly know everyone who comes to it and you don't let anyone else in.

    Hell, to this day I still sometimes find glass shards in my feet.

I don't do "open public" parties at all. And I live in a flat with nice neighbours so it'd be easy to just let people in from the first floor main entrance door and not worry about intruders that way.. I'll see what I'll be pulling off some day.

    I don't see how being a masochist affects the protective properties of shoes. Although I guess that could affect your buying trends and make you buy shoes with glass soles.
