Yes I find that disturbing. As if to say that the game has something to do with the way these people are acting. "The game contains references to violence, thus it must MAKE them into killers..." Sure buddy, if you started playing at age 3 and didn't stop for 20 years maybe, but anyone who has been raised decently can interpret right from wrong.
and he killed a guy even though he was gonna get $900? lol!
btw, who pays $900 for a virtual saber?
Jesus Christ funbags, way to laugh at a man's death.

Being mentally unstable is the same at any age I think. This man was not firmly grounded in reality if he thinks an online weapon is worth a human life.

Also, it's funny that communists think that MMORPG items should be private property, therefore you could buy or sell them with no problem, but capitalists here at home think that the items should be the property of corporations who run the games.

Blizzard and SOE have both blocked Ebay sales of game items. Blizzard explicitly states that they retain ownership of all virtual objects--I *think* SOE does the same, but since I haven't played one of their games in a while I can't confirm that.

i still can't get over the fact that some paid $900 dollars for a dragon saber. that's what this thread should be about. the guy that paid $900 dollars for a sword.
damn, why can't this mir game shut down and so this guy loses his light sword. i would LAUGH OUT LOUD.
"The armor and swords in games should be deemed as private property as players have to spend money and time for them," Wang Zongyu, an associate law professor at Beijing's Renmin University of China, was quoted as saying.
But other experts are calling for caution. "The 'assets' of one player could mean nothing to others as they are by nature just data created by game providers," a lawyer for a Shanghai-based Internet game company was quoted as saying.

Well I found that quote more to do with explaining to some people that the game involves swords, which ties in with the story of a guy killing someone over a sword in a game.
Because not everyone knows the details of MMORPGs.
