    It's far too much like veil... It looks GOOD, like veil quality, but the theme isn't yours.
    Nice idea with the red core though.

    I think spacer hit it on the head. It does look very nice, but any veil/eclipse themed maps tend to get hit pretty hard in here. I seem to remember someone making a similar map, but with much higher attention to detail in the support structures. It was quite a while ago, and it doesn't look like those structures are in your map, but I'm curious anyhow.

    I have worked with Lillbrorsan on minor parts of the map. We agreed from the beginning that it was supposed to be a mix between eclipse and veil in the style.

    So when you see something you reckognise, you're supposed to <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Some might call it copying but that's okay, in essence they are right.

    But most of the map is done by taking overall style of hallways and rooms from these two maps and tweaking/expanding them into a different layout.

    The idea was to get that same feeling from the lighting and architecture and use it to make a combat map.

    Regarding the red core area. I actually got the idea by looking at triad on eclipse and wanting to incorporate something like that into the map layout. The desicion to make it red instead was actually based on the fact that the lighting in the vents are done in a blueish color and i thought that needed a good contrast.

    I guess were not the first ones to get the idea then.

    Hello Nexus(2). My god, this map is so blatently a decompile or just COMPLETE copy. Look at the picture quoted above for example. Every texture is synced up PERFECTLY with the exception of two textures. If you look at the railing when brightened up, there is a texture error on it, which also happens to occur on veil. My, oh my.

    Lets say for some reason you didn't decompile and throw a bunch of stuff together, it's still complete copying and it's lame.

    Seriosuly, you think they would at least try and copy other maps for once. Oh well, Andrew must be flattered.

    As opposed to popular belief, this ISN'T mapping.

    What the hell? Of course it's supposed to be inspired, not carbon copied. You know, just like you said. My complaining was just about that one picture, which YOU told him to change. I didn't know hypocrisy was in fashion this year, you have to let me in on these things.

    Everybody uses inspiration, but that part was taking it to another level, and you freak on me for it?

    It looks like a complete "remake of ns_eclipse and ns_hera"- hybrid. It looks neat, but most important, I get the feeling that you are abusing the original maps' good reputation. However, I think it's ok as long as the original author of ns_eclipse and ns_veil approves (which I doubt).

    I'm no freaking "Nz-Nexus" copy, if i want something i create it myself!
    I know it looks like veil and its supposed too! I have run around veil and eclipse several times to get it right!!

    Btw, its funny, cause if you make a map with other textures and stuff thats similar to every other map no one is complaining, but if it looks like Veil or Eclipse theres alot of talking :o

    Then you get this, you've done a great job at mimicing the style of Eclipse (and adding a couple things of your own) and you're getting crap for it =/

    You're going to need to use a different logo. The Eclipse logo is for use only in Eclipse and Veil. KFS has requested on numerous times that others not use the logo.

    While seeing your point, this is a tribute aimed at the two maps.

    It's also fair to say the author has choice on whether he does or doesn't use the logo as it is freely available to use in the official WADs.

    In my opinion, it is fairly easier and way more possible to mimic the style of ns_eclipse/ns_veil, opposed to any other map, because of the individual textureset, the distinctive architecture and the lighting scheme.     Yeah...

    Hmm...

    I'm always honored when people do something as an homage to Eclipse and Veil, but there's a line between homage and pieces mixed together.

    Given the couple years I've spent with the .rmf files over what other people have, I think it's safe to say I have a little bit of experience with the Eclipse/Veil style. If this was built from scratch, congratulations on wasting a lot of time matching even the smallest details, because you <i>have</i> done a great job. But the amount it matches is making even me a little leery.

    Even if it is built from scratch, we come full circle to the homage vs. pieces mixed together bit. I'm thrilled if you've found something in my work that inspires you to do something like this, but at least push yourself a bit more. There's no reason you can't take this a step further to the point of making me question some of my own architectural and lighting decisions I made back then - some people have done this in the past, and it's flipping awesome to see. Looking back at what I could have done differently, these maps aren't all that great.     I like the feel of the map, although one can immedoately tell that i was inspired by veil. Are you going with a certain color theme of your map, such as red that would go with the red core? I love maps that have a certain color to them, it just feels right.

    Since when are themes property of someone? You can use any theme you want, why else would the textures be included in the first place.
