<div class="IPBDescription">ever.</div> So I was playing ns_tanith, and I was marines (for once no one stacked) and we were winning the entire game, but anyways, their last hive was satelitte, and we welded it to death.

Even better than kniving. We welded a bunch of skulks too (we all had HA)

Yeh I've done the welding thang before. Even better was Waste hive on Tanith. We lost many a good Marine as we tried to defend about 10 turret factories that were being upgraded with electricity defences. It was going rather well actually, but the Aliens F4'd coz it got boring for them.

no, the best way to kill a hive is to build 10+ electrified turret factories next to it and in the spawn room. all skulks that spawn die to elec, and the tfs slowly shock the hive to death. then you can jump on the tfs and weld the hive.

edit: it would also be a fun idea to drop an armory and have the comm drop as many mines as he can. so you can plaster the floor between the tfs with mines, stick them to the hive, each other, etc

I found that 5 sg's can kill a hive in less than 10 seconds. That is the best way to kill a hive tbh irl imo.

Does anyone know if it is possible to telefrag a hive by building a phase gate in a room on top of it, having it sink through the floor geometry, and teleporting through it? That would be the coolest way of killing a hive. If it was possible, it would be a neat concept for a siege map. The marines have to wait for the siege room to open up, then they have to build a phase gate before it can sink, and the aliens have to kill the marines before the phase gate sinks into the hive, all while the marines watch (through a glass window) the hive so that they will know when it will sink.

It shouldn't be possible to telefrag a hive. They made it so that it is nearly impossible to build a phase gate in a place where a marine would appear inside the hive. Even if you manage to get around that, appearing inside the hive shouldn't kill it. You would simply walk around inside the hive until you moved out of the area, at which point you wouldn't be able to go back inside the hive. That's how it's supposed to work, anyway.
