Although I do agree with you that most scripts (pancake, blink, leap, etc) just limit a good player, it is important to realize that certain scripts (such as pistol and wiggle) make a good player near perfect.

And they don't make new players much better, as they can't use them right. Just like anything, there is a learning curve. Using scripts will not make a good player instantly.

As for competitive players, you have been gravely mistaken.  I'd say 85% of the clans we've scrimmed have at least 1-3 or all members that pistol script.  And we've scrimmed both Delta and Omega NS clans.

how can you tell who is using a pscript and who isnt
unless there shooting there empty pistol and you hear the clicks going at high speeds, there really isnt much way to tell

the rate of fire cap of the pistol is low enough that many people can just mash there mouse1 button or roll there mwheel and shoot just as fast, if not faster than a pscript

a pscript (especially if it shoots more than 2 shots) has a much higher chance of hurting the player using it. If you get a fps drop, your rof drops. If you have a slow computer, it may not exec the script fast enough. And so on.

Im sure that a lot of people do use a pscript, as it is a very popular script. However I wouldnt say 85% (where 85% came fom i have yet to determine) use one

I can personally tell you that, as a result of my pistol script I can kill as many as 3 more skulks and can increase my chances of killing a running fade by 50%.

where d you get these statistics.
first of all, a lvl 3 pistol against a 1 hive non-cara skulk takes 4 shoots to kill. Thus you can only kill at most 2 more skulks because of it. Unless your talking about using your lmg then whipping out your pistol, but then it isnt a result of your pistol script rather how much you hurt them before. Or unless you have enough time to reload then shoot again, but then its a result of bad skulking and i would hope you would kill it.

A pistol script is not all it is made out to be. When it does work properly (or if you know what your doing and configure it properly) your still limited by the level of your computer.

Wigglewalk. I have it, I don't use it because it's much better to just spam a and d.
Pistol: I have it, I don't use it because it's too unweildly. And, If you don't get the fps and waits right, you can be stuck firing an empty clip.

For both of those, the two main "skill" scripts, it is much better to use the non-scripted version. They both lock up your controls while using them, and they are inflexible.

The only scripts that are somewhat comparable to hacks are those that use _special, because it gives you the full benefits of a normal script without the balancing drawback of having your controls locked up. You can stop complaining about these scripts now because _special is totally blocked in b6.

Why don't you anti-scripters stay out of the scripting forum or, better yet, concentrate on something productive, like actual hacking and getting VAC running on NS.

to make the interface work so well that no scripts are desired (by those who know how to make things easier/quicker) is virtually impossible... short of making the whole interface customizable...

having to stop moving around/attacking, right-click, drag over here, drag over there, drag over here and finally click will never be as easy as letting someone look at what the final click does and say ok well i want pressing X to do that instead of me wasting the time to go all the way through the interface. the more things you can do with a single and close keystroke (as opposed to your finger having to travel halfway across the keyboard possibly removing your eyes from the screen) the better.

a similar thing has happened to CS's command menu... in its present form it's utterly useless since it simply cannot be used on the fly. The ns interface, specifically the popup menu, is just that... slow and clunky.

make the interface completely customizable to the point of class/race specifics and you'll have a start... or just sod off and let people script...

Other than flashlight strobes, no, and they could hardly be giving me any kind of advantage in-game, other than turning me into a human disco machine tounge.gif

Preciselly, I can hear them click. As for button mashing, you try to mash your button/scroll your mwheel and still land 90% of your pistol shots on a bunnyhopping skulk/blinking fade. It also makes it really easy to spot when they actually manage to shoot faster than the sound played (10 shots fire, only 3-4 can be heard).

I personally use a double burst pscript (2 shots) and, unless there is insane lag, it is more beneficial than detrimental. As for your observations, I am not sure if you scrim other clans, but, this year alone, I have scrimmed against at least 4 delta clans and 5 omega clans. Since basically every single one of them had at least one member that was undoubtedly pistol scripting, I can say with all certainty that 85%+ clans have a member(s) that pistol script.

I thought it was obvious that I was implying that "3 more skulks" after I have already LMGed them. Also, since I said "personally", I thought it was obvious that the statistics were obtained by myself.
And yes, a pistol script is just about all that is made out to be. It works properly for me almost 80% of the time (as I said, only acts up during extreme lag situations) and since I have an extremely good comp, I need not worry about my computer limiting me. Thus I am not limited by the level of my computer, but rather the only thing that is limiting for me is learning how to control myself so I only shoot off 2-4 shots at a time and, of course, perfecting my aim.
It's insane how, a year ago, situations in which I would deem myself "screwed" are now situations in which I can easily whip out my pistol, do a 180, and reversely, "screw" the situation. wink-fix.gif
