It doesn't really even do enough to be close to considered an exploit, because it hardly increases your speed. Yeah it makes a pretty big difference, but getting banned for "exploiting walls" is just plain stupid.
Seriously, if you got banned for that you should be banned if you bunnyhop <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> both are hickups in the HL engine, oh yeah and wigglewalking
Pssst he was not banned for that. he is either insane good or a cheat. it's my server i pay the bills unless he can come play that way on my pc he got the ban.
He <b><u>IS</u></b> insane good dude. He's GoD, formerly of sU, (last season's second place CAL team) now of console. He's one of the best marines in the game.
Yes, it's an engine exploit. No, nobody cares if you do it. This is the first time I've heard of an admin banning for that, and it appears by the previous posts that that wasn't the actual reason for the ban.
See what happens when you play on other servers god <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
and yes it is a pub and how else is a admin supose to run it unless he watches and check players out if any of you would have checked the forums it was a temp ban and i did not see fit to lift it yet. because 1 i have been working alot 2 he did't wait it out
now god needs to stick to his first name multiple names means i need to check him out multiple times.. = mutiple bans untill i can find out who he is.
and how do u wall strafe? just look towards the wall and move? <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Like the guy said if you do it properly you don't need scripts to do it which is why i have disabled scripts on my server basically when they moan i tell if you cant do it with out help from a script don't do it at all <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
But getting banned for being good and wall strafe is rediculous on my server if you can do it do it so what nobody cares unless theres an admin on who thinks you cheat because ya K/D ratio is something like 20 - 1 if it was something like 40 - 1 then i would question but 1st i would take into consideration what this person is facing on the opposing team e.g. if they are all nubs then i can accept it!
right. banned for wall strafing is totally ridiculous. might as wekk ban anyone who bunnyhops, scripts, wiggle walks, or binds any command to a key
btw scripting for wigglewalking is so that the left right commands can be executed almost immediately with the tap of one button, which is much much faster than doing it manually
Meh, if you want to play on a server that bannes for wallwalking, then so be it. Personally I don't mind getting banned from servers with rediculous rules that I don't want to have to play by anyways. You could always apologize and explain that you didn't know they consideded wall walking an exploit, and promise that you won't do it in the future.

Skulks can do the same thing against the ground by releasing duck and looking slightly down into the ground while running. I do this when I need to get up steep slopes because then I will fly of the top edge at near full speed and not have to do a 'glide' jump to start bunnyhopping.
When moving up a really steep slope your upwards velocity can get high enough for the game to think that you are not on ground, but you can still gain speed from 'wall strafing' into the ground, and this makes you fly up like a rocket. If the slope is really really long and steep enough(doesn't exist in regular NS maps, possibly in some weird custom map) you can reach max air speed and be launched over the top edge at 3x run speed(bunnyhopping will only reach 1.7x speeds because your velocity is cropped if it exceeds this when you jump again). (the speed the game cares about is horisontal speed, your vertical speed can be much higher still and has no effect on your max horisontal speed)
All these things are accesible through the physics code for the mod, they are <span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'><b><i>NOT</i></b></span> engine bugs, they are inherited by all half-life mods based on the HLDM source from the SDK without bothering to look in pm_shared.c and fix the issues. It isn't even that complex code so it is certainly 'fixable' if this is desired by the dev team.

In case anyone cares, the speed up due to 'wiggle-walking' is due to the same reasons that you get a speed up from 'gliding'(e.g. strafe to the left while turning to the left).

An exploit is undesired behaviour of code which is taken advantage of by a third party.
The emphasis here is on <i>undesired</i>. The suggestion to remove it has been brought up in development on a couple of occasions. Since it hasn't been removed and is not listed on Mantis, it should be apparent to anyone that it is an "undocumented feature" rather than an exploit.
<!--QuoteBegin-GoDlol+Feb 25 2005, 02:02 AM--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (GoDlol @ Feb 25 2005, 02:02 AM)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--> I did post on their forums, and I was wondering if it was widley except as an exploit throughout the community or just on that one perticular server. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> generally it is an accepted technique... as it is impossible to fix without compleatly removing the code responsible for bunnyhopping, and thus will always be part of the game (unlike pancaking which is a bug that is fixable). Because it has been deemed acceptable enough to leave in the game, it is generally considered as acceptable as say bunnyhopping, or manual wigglewalking.
Although some servers don't allow those things either, so you have to know the rules of a server before going all out. But like I say, I don't much like the no wallwalking/no bunnyhopping servers, so rather than whining about them or telling them off, i just avoid them. If I get banned for wallwalking wigglewalking, bunnyhopping, glidejumping or strafe jumping, I just go "meh" because I really don't want to play on that type of server anyways.

but as of now i find it as a perfectly viable way to gain speed as a marine and alien (mainly in vents or to start a bhawp)
im sure if the dev team doesnt like it they will remove it ( like it has been done in cs )
noob server tbh.
He <b><u>IS</u></b> insane good dude. He's GoD, formerly of sU, (last season's second place CAL team) now of console. He's one of the best marines in the game.
Life and especially humanity is an exploite.
Ban god!
Ps: Silent, ship me your computer or come to oregon and ill show you how its done

And you can wigglewalk without scripts, but it would seem to be easier since you don't have to worry about damaging your hands.

Just strafe into a flat wall as you run.
Next time your walking along that handrail in caged, or if you hold down your unstick button for skulk while your walking through a vent.
in america you get banned for moving around. funny stuff..
