    i will always improve other peoples design. and the original mappers dont seem to have a problem with it, because i ask them before i do it.

    and yes i have made some original maps for duke3D and quake 3. i just dont feel like dedicating 6 months to a year to make 1 map.

    as for bast, you did probably the worst job in modifying it. but i really dont care anymore since i dont play official maps anymore because they have become so mutilated from what they started out as.

    when i want to play a good version of bast, i just fire up my old ns 1.0 server and add a couple of bots and play that way.

    now either play the map and post what you think about it, or dont reply at all.

    you know, everyone has to have made a box map at one point, but no one ever released theirs. maybe you shouldn't have either. I'm not flaming, I'm just advising on how to avoid flaming.

    Theres many doom alphas, but the bsp's are basicly the same as the final version. Just a few things with the elevators and things like that were added since the first one was made. If you can get these running, I congrat you, Ive only been able to get a few running. Quite cool to be playing part of history.

    the elevators in that map are made of 3 entities. 2 path_corners and a func_train. just dont crouch into the corner, or jump on them otherwise you will fall and die or get smeared on the wall.

    working on an update for it, because found a couple of bugs. but i doubt that anyone cares.

    next project, a stargate map. and this time i didnt bum someone elses work and improve / port it.

    first, get a bigger monitor because its only 1024x768

    second, i have 1/4 a bast rmf on my hard drive and its pretty much a duplicate to the original 1.0 version.

    that isnt a door, thats something to prevent you from looking into the void.

    the stargate took 2 days to build, had to look through my boxed sets of stargate sg-1 for a good picture of the stargate.

    now seriously get back to making your maps and stop flaming mine. hmm, most of you have been around the ns forums for a couple of years and i have only seen one or two maps out of most of you. 4 at the most. and you call yourselves mappers, PFF.

    Jesus man, when will you learn? Are you just ignoring me on purpose? The filesize is freaking 700kb. 0.7mb. Which is way too freaking large. Average images are around 50kb. It has nothing to do with the freaking monitor.

    hmm, maybe it was 700 kb because i made it that way?

    in photoshop if you save a jpg, it gives you a couple of choices for image quality. its defaulted at max and i dont really bother with it.

    and if you couldnt tell before with the 320x200 with 0% quality that was a joke.

    For future reference, a good picture size to post is usually around 800x600 pixels. Not too big and not too small.

    Also if your not going to give respect to those mappers in this forum who deserve it (Mendasp for example), your not going to get along with anybody and this thread will only burn even more fram the flamage.

    Mapping takes time and if your not going to put any effort into making something worthy of showing people then dont post it here. 6 months isn't very long for an ns map, and it will take even longer if you want a truly good looking map. How many years was Zazi working on ns_widow? A couple I think, and look where he is now. Correct me if I'm wrong but last I knew he was being offered a job for a big gaming company because of the quality of his work. The reason why I dont post any of my work on here anymore is because I work to slowly and I never get anything done.

    So stop being a dork, get a good idea, and put some effort into it.



    Now, your Stargate room looks really plain apart from the actual stargate which has horid textures on it IMO. The walls are flat and ugly and theres really no variety in lighting. Those light textures above the door appear way stretched out as well.

    jpeg compression (75% quality, 800x600) will produce arround 120KB filesize. And is the standart on these forums.

    That startgate looks kind of nice, but I don't remember it having red whatyamacallits. Also are you going to leave the detail on the rest of the wall that low, would be nice to see at least some nicer textures there.
