Ok, so i'm not really a troll or *that* new i've been playing a couple of months and LOVE the game. Just stopped by to say hi and sign up for these here forums. I play a lot of combat only because i never was very good at the NS maps (still get yelled at for being a noob and all <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /> ) I would hope to see you all in game sometime <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' />

Play NS maps, Ignore the idiots who say "OGM U NOOB STUPID NUB!" Combat is good for practicing aiming/alien classes but it is not as rewarding as NS_ maps.

As a marine, follow your comm's orders to the letter. I suggest playing on the Lunixmonster or the Tactical Gamer (Cheating Death Req) server. You will have the time of you life playing NS_maps esp. on The Lunixmonster. Btw, if anyone calls you a nub/nubcaek/nublet on The Lunixmonster, its just a joke <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' />

Forget that co_ crap and play Ns_ you cant learn anything good from co_ if you are newbie. Noobs can do lot in ns_ if they have even slight idea what they are making. Thing you should do on aliens is to waut 50res and get hive. Thats the most effiecent thing noob can do, another one is go eat their rts! these "vets" are allways too busy fragging to kill rts. On marines just build the base at the start of the round and follow waypoints

Thanks for all the tips guys ! I really only like Co_ maps because i can jump right into the fray. Just tried playing on the Lunixmonster and they kicked me because they dont like it to be public i guess, that and its just complete Bs on those NS maps, seriously they had heavys, jetpacks, hmg's, gl's and still had enough res for 3 siege turret emplacements. It's just complete crud to play against that <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' />

Don't sweat it; you can't win 'em all. You probably joined in late (was I in that game?). When you join in late, the odds can be lopsided. They probably kicked you because of slot reservation. It's a good server, just popular, so you don't often get a slot.

Ya, don't take the LM kicks as anything personal. All the LM regs had to deal with at least a few monthes of slotkicks before we got our slots. Keep on plugging.

You should probably play some standard pubs anyways, the skill level in LM is way above average. It's a great place to play and practice, but it really doesn't do anything for your confidence level.

Thanks Swift, i'll keep that in mind. You know any good servers for people with like not much skill with Ns_ maps ? i suggest playing on the www.joe.to servers. great people there and they are always willing to help. the ip is 209.67.215.74:27015, and you can check out the community at forums.joe.to

its not really a different skill that you need to play ns_ maps, you just need to get used to it, and if you play here everyone will be sure to help you out.

Is there a way to bind a certain attack to a specific key, and if there is, is it legal ? Like say i want to bind t to use blink can i do that ? Also how would i do that ?

you cant really bind a key to a certain attack, but there is some scripting you can do to make a certain key use your slot 2 attack, so it would do blink, parasite, devour, spores, and healspray. it wont work on servers that block scripts though. im not really sure the exact script you need to do it either.

I suggest you look in the scripting forum for info on scripting. <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=86955' target='_blank'>Here's</a> a good intro to what scripting is and isn't, and <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=87331' target='_blank'>here's</a> an explanation of what won't work on servers that decide to block scripting.

Post the same question in the scripting forum, and I'm sure somebody would be happy to help you rebind your keys. (=P I would tell you right now, but we have a whole forum for this sort of thing. So let's use it.)

If you haven't figured this out already, I recommend you bind a lastinv key. essentially what it does is allows for instant weapons switch on one key press by automatically switching to whatever the last weapon you had assigned was before you assigned a new weapon. Keep this switching between blink and swipe and you will find fading alot less of a hassle to do... It also is extreamly useful for all the other evolutions for different reasons.

Actually, I find that the default lastinv key works best as a voice comm key (as with K for when you command). The downside to using lastinv as a fade is that you can't metabolize, and that I find the placement of 1 - 2 - 3 works better than a single key...

Back away from CO. Now!
All CO teaches you is how to spawnkill,use GL's in a lame fashion and how to get rrreeaaaalllllyyy pi**ed off in a short amount of time. It's also fun to do all of the above and really annoy angry people.
If any1 calls you a noob in NS just ignore them; no doubt they will be the one making a mistake later on.
But the funniest thing you will find is the people who use microphones; trust me,it's hilarious. When they get pi**ed off,or have speech to speech arguments,it's comedy.
