I Dont Mean To Whine, But....

just a rant about commanders
It seems that 90% of the time I play as marine the commander never gives out health packs when people ask, never gives ammo, never upgrades to higher weapons and armory and does nothing more than place a few structures around the map.... maybe 4 spots with turrets, spawns, and a command station.

If they aren't going to upgrade are armor they should at least provide people with health when they ask.., I've seen people asking for health when they have maybe 2HP and the commander just ignores them, whats up with that? they do it to me too.. I'll speak to them with U(team chat) and radio "need health" ,but they never give it out.

We will be stuck with low armor and LMGs, which isnt horrible, but can be a major issue later in the game when it is 2 marines with LMG's and low armor vs. 2 or 3 onos with all sorts of upgrades. This stuff isnt horrible, but come on of course you should give up higher weapons later in the game... you should have done all that by that time.

I would be commander myself, but it's way to slow to manuver on my old comp.

I wish commanders would pay more attention to their own team and not just protecting their base with a million turrets and spawns.. those can go quick without any high power marines helping you out. I think people tend to forget that your army is all real people, this isnt like warcraft.

also I would just like to know about mines. Can they harm you or your teamates? or does it depend on if FF is on or what?

This is where you would want to excercise your rights as an NS Citizen and fire up the Commander Vote Out on your pop-up menu.

You could also opt to leave the server if you dislike the commander. There are plenty of others to play on.

I've seen that happen to many times. A team kicks out the bad commander and someone else takes over...so the guy procceds to lay waste to the CC and the IP's and anything else he can find...and since there is no boot player option yet...it all goes to hell.

When you've got 5 guys requesting ammo and health from all over the map, it can take a while before we get around to getting you some. When you ask for it, however, use the in-game menu. Don't type it or say it through voice comm - when you use the in-game menu, we can jump right to you.

... as well as the 1 RP it costs to respawn you. If you're only slightly low on health, don't kill yourself in your base.

I don't really see people killing themselves unless they get stuck under a building (or once in my case, an elevator. )

I agree, the commander needs to supply their troops, but Marine's need to learn how to ask for it correctly. Do you know how useless the word "here" is in this game? "I need health over here!" "Build a turret over there..." etc. Use your in-game commands, and I'll be more then glad to give it to you, expecially if you are doing what I ask.

What blows me away is the number of commanders that don't have voice com. Come on! Do you know how long it takes to type a half a dozen commands out? Sheesh, go out an buy a $5 dollar mic.

You guys dont understand, I know it's hard to be commander and everything, but I am not asking for health right when I am spawning or askign imlightly.. I use the say commands and all that.. I will say "need orders, acknowlaged, need health, need ammo ect and if they dont do it I will try and use team speak to ask and tell them to just press space to go to the last one who talks. I have seen many times where the commander will not give any health or ammo to anyone and the players will be asking the commander alot, he still wont... the thing I see most is marines building turrets everywhere...

Furthermore, I have seen maybe 2 commanders out of probabaly 25 games I've played which actually give waypoints..

Commanding is hard, but what is so hard if you arent giving your team weapons, upgrades, waypoints, or anything. Come on now.

There is no doubt being the commander is stressfull, but if you play it right your team should be polite and cooperative. I always say thanks or "TY" after getting health or whatever.

I just wish if someone wants to be commander and dont know much about it that they would ask "how?" when asked to do somethign they dont know how.. I figure many people just dont know how to do things and ignore their troops requests

Adding onto what flatline said, it seems a moot point asking for health right at the spawn (which people do). Health costs money, so killing yourself (type kill in console) is often a good way to save the team money (of course not in the middle of an attack), all those 2 Rs add up. Same with ammo, I've seen people ask for ammo right by the armory (no it wasn't upgrading)

Note: While typing "kill" in the console might save the 2 RP it would have cost to heal you, it wastes the 25 RP it cost to outfit you in Heavy Armor, and possibly the 20+ RP it cost to give you a weapon too.

Of course if your fully equipped your not going to do that (guns can be salavaged anyways).

i agree pretty much here, way way too often ive been in a game, and the commander hasn't given anyone waypoints, has had in excess of 700 RP lying around and wouldnt drop any building, guns or armor, we booted him out and he then proceeded to destroy the CC....

In that case, I think the commander was a so called "rager" and was doing it on purpose, its sad, but people do these things

Never ask for health or ammo at or near spawn. It costs valuable resources. And if you've gone off on your own and get in a fight, don't ask for health or ammo either. Or don't expect any if you do. The commander is too busy fortifying and supplying the team players. I had a bunch of n00bs eject me as commander once when I wouldn't give them ammo at spawn, right by an ammo tower. When you run out of ammo, fall back to reload and let your buddies cover you.

Side note: I think some sort of medical tower would be a very good addition to the game and take a lot of stress off the commander (assuming the grunts actually used the d@mn thing ...).
