just a rant about commanders
It seems that 90% of the time I play as marine the commander never gives out health packs when people ask, never gives ammo, never upgrades to higher weapons and armory and does nothing more than place a few structures around the map.... maybe 4 spots with turrets, spawns, and a command station.
If they aren't going to upgrade are armor they should at least provide people with health when they ask.., I've seen people asking for health when they have maybe 2HP and the commander just ignores them, whats up with that? they do it to me too.. I'll speak to them with U(team chat) and radio "need health" ,but they never give it out.
We will be stuck with low armor and LMGs, which isnt horrible, but can be a major issue later in the game when it is 2 marines with LMG's and low armor vs. 2 or 3 onos with all sorts of upgrades. This stuff isnt horrible, but come on of course you should give up higher weapons later in the game... you should have done all that by that time.
I would be commander myself, but it's way to slow to manuver on my old comp.
I wish commanders would pay more attention to their own team and not just protecting their base with a million turrets and spawns.. those can go quick without any high power marines helping you out. I think people tend to forget that your army is all real people, this isnt like warcraft.
also I would just like to know about mines. Can they harm you or your teamates? or does it depend on if FF is on or what?

How did you combat siege? With troops. Same goes for NS - it's really an RTS before anything else.

So will your structures. Friendly-fire doesn't have to be enabled.
... as well as the 1 RP it costs to respawn you. If you're only slightly low on health, don't kill yourself in your base.
I don't really see people killing themselves unless they get stuck under a building (or once in my case, an elevator. )
What blows me away is the number of commanders that don't have voice com. Come on! Do you know how long it takes to type a half a dozen commands out? Sheesh, go out an buy a $5 dollar mic.
Furthermore, I have seen maybe 2 commanders out of probabaly 25 games I've played which actually give waypoints..
Commanding is hard, but what is so hard if you arent giving your team weapons, upgrades, waypoints, or anything. Come on now.
There is no doubt being the commander is stressfull, but if you play it right your team should be polite and cooperative. I always say thanks or "TY" after getting health or whatever.
I just wish if someone wants to be commander and dont know much about it that they would ask "how?" when asked to do somethign they dont know how.. I figure many people just dont know how to do things and ignore their troops requests
Adding onto what flatline said, it seems a moot point asking for health right at the spawn (which people do). Health costs money, so killing yourself (type kill in console) is often a good way to save the team money (of course not in the middle of an attack), all those 2 Rs add up. Same with ammo, I've seen people ask for ammo right by the armory (no it wasn't upgrading)
Side note: I think some sort of medical tower would be a very good addition to the game and take a lot of stress off the commander (assuming the grunts actually used the d@mn thing ...).
