    I don't have any scripts to share, but I must say - that I <i>personally</i> dislike the use of any scripts, HL aliases or any other form of modification actually. Typical default NS for me, always.

    You can pistol, leap, etc just as well as someone with a script if you try. Plus, I find it more satisfying beating someone using a script without ever touching one myself. Hope there are others who share the same flow of thought as me. ^_^;

    if you can accomplish everything without scripts as with them then how on earth do you know someone scripts? do you come asking everyone on the server?

    killing someone who scripts is the same as killing someone who has rebound their keys or set hud_fastswitch as "1". or modified their marine (or alien) crosshairs. OR (here comes the best part) killing someone, who hasnt modified their install at all.

    It's a scripting argument. What did you expect?

    If you anti-scripters want to be taken seriously, some logic to support your angry outbursts would go down well.

    Turn Natural Selection into Star Wars. Weapon upgrades show more green blaster bolts. At weapons 3, the marines are shooting loads of green plasma everywhere. It's actually quite spectacular looking, much better than those crappy pale yellow tracers.

    -----

    alias +stickybite "+use;+attack"
    alias -stickybite "-use;-attack"

    I forgot about this one. When you +use on the ground, you lose all your momentum. So if you use this script, when you bite, you will stick in place. This script is useless, but it teaches you a little known fact about NS. +use, and your momentum is gone.

    -----

    <span style='color:yellow'>alias +s1 "slot1;wait;+attack;"

    alias -s3 "-attack;wait;wait;slot1"

    alias +s4 "slot4;wait;+attack;
    alias -s4 "-attack;wait;wait;slot1"

    Scripts to put each weapon slot on a different button. Sort of. It not only puts them on a different button, it uses them, then switches back to slot1 after you let go of the button. So if I had leap, I'd press my +s3 button (x, mouse5), and it would instantly switch to leap and leap for me, then switch back to bite when I let go of it. If I want to leap again, I press it again.</span>

    alias -s1fade "-attack"

    alias +s2fade "slot1;wait;+attack;"
    alias -s2fade "-attack;wait;wait;slot2"

    sort of like the scripts above, but assumes that your default attack is slot2, for blink. I haven't tested this one. I just thought of it now.

    Unfortunately, I have never, and I mean it literally and can say it without lying, NEVER seen a script(...) like such used modestly.
    Much unlike the simple call for order binds, though it's impossible to tell if someone uses a key for it, or is just going through the menu.

    EDIT: -
    My point is that they tend to come hand-in-hand, and I now associate say binds with spammers.

    A scripting area or a sub from Customization needs to be implemented. It would encourage players to discuss & share thier knowledge of scripts with each other without the flame bait. There has already been posts/topics on this but I'am yet to see any with some sort of say besides Zunni look into this.

    People just need to learn to ignore the flames. It's not that hard. When i see a topic like this one, i read everything, including the flames (with a big smile on my face), then i post ... a script. It's much more annoying for the anti-scripters out there to be ignored, btw <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I remember an old topic about custom sprays. Some people were saying "custom sprays = h4x!" and there was a flame war going on. I just joined in and posted sprays of a fake door, a fake switch, and ... a fake weldable sign (evil, i know). Imo thats the best way to deal with flamers. You ignore them, you are not really flaming, and you are the one that is staying on-topic = winnar.

    it HAS. stopsound is going to be altered/removed because overuse of if is considered an exploit. i was told this by an admin/dev, but i dont remember who. it is an exploit because it removes the ambient noises in a map (those sounds, sometimes annoying and loud, when you go to different parts of a map). those ambient sounds are put there by the mapper and stoping them is an exploit. if you dont believe me, PM nem0 or someone and ask.

    lets also lock cl_musicenabled & -volume while we're at it? with all due respect its pretty frustrating to die because you didnt hear that skulk coming because of some huge whomp whomp noises that the fine piece of mapping beside you seems to produce.

    But then you blame the mappers for being silly, not the devs for forcing you to endure the same conditions as everyone else(which would be pretty close to the very concept of fairness).

    its a command that gives me a choice. either i can listen to ns's excellent music tracks while happily wandering around, or i can turn it off and see how many skulks i can kill using 2 of my senses instead of one. removing the command would remove the ability of choice and personal preference. which in turn leads to communism and such awful things that none of us want. or do we?

    besides, no-one has to endure anything. the commands and customisation possibilities are there for everyone, its a matter of willingness to change (omg!) something (though sometimes its because of unawareness of such commands. but even then you can always ask "hey, how to turn music off/anything for that matter").

    edit: oh, sorry, i suppose i misread you. yeah, i can understand it may sound a little tricky to you for someone to push a button bound to stopsound every once in a while to block ambience noises, but to be honest i see nothing wrong with it (not that i do it often). hearing is a big part of this game, and having it hindered by outside things is pretty frustrating.

    Way to go, block everything that doesn't come with the default configuration, for the very sake of fairness. Let's all have the same key layout, the same mouse sensitivity, the same resolution, the same brightness, the same gamma, the same framerate ! That would make the game lots more fun, everything is fair k !?!!!! Wooohoooo \o/

    ambient sounds are different from the music tracks. the music is allowed to be disabled, the sounds arent. and dont kill the messenger here, im just passing on what i heard. the reason for stopsound is for bugged sounds, and i imagine that it will still be usable for that purpose.

    btw, does anyone have a good fade scrpit? i want to press mouse1 to swipe, mouse2 to blink, and mouse4 to metabolize. i want to press the buttons and use the weapon, not just select it. i made my own script, but it doesnt work very well. it seems slower than just doing lastinv between blink and swipe. i want a better script cause i need to metabolize so i dont die <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    this is what i have right now:
    alias "+blink" "weapon_blink; +attack;"
    alias "-blink" "-attack"
    alias "+swipe" "weapon_swipe; +attack;"
    alias "-swipe" "-attack"
    alias "+meta" "weapon_metabolize; +attack;"
    alias "-meta" "-attack"
    bind "mouse4" "+meta"
    bind "mouse2" "+blink"
    bind "mouse1" "+swipe"<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    The reason it doesn't work properly is for lack of wait commands. You should only need one in each instance. Thus:

    <!--c1--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>CODE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='CODE'><!--ec1-->alias +swipe "weapon_swipe; wait; +attack"
    alias -swipe "-attack"
    alias +blink "weapon_blink; wait; +attack"
    alias -blink "-attack"
    alias +metabolise "weapon_metabolize; wait; +attack" // bah, Z spelling
    alias -metabolise "-attack"<!--c2--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--ec2-->

    These should be available in DragonMech's pack. The only difference between QuickAttack scripts (yes, that's DragonMech's name <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->) is the weapon used, so for any weapon not listed, you can just copy one of the others and change the weapon name to suit. (Be sure to give the script a different name, too. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->)

    As far as scripting up your fade goes, I'm not sure if being on swipe as the default attack is such a good idea. Unlike the skulk, there's some lag time between switching to blink, the fade's arms moving, and actually blinking. What might be a better idea is to make all your scripts end in "slot 2" so that you end up back on blink. Just make a slot1 quick attack script and a slot3 quick attack script, both ending in "slot 2." It should work fine. I've found that making blink into a quick attack script isn't nearly as responsive as I'd imagined. Certainly nowhere as good as a skulk with a leap quick attack script. I really just think the secret is making sure you almost always have blink selected in the first place. I'm not sure how it would affect meta and swipe though.

    I don't get that. I have no "lag" time between a swipe then a blink away, but i use lastinv on mouse2, that make a difference to anything?

    I do get it when doing blink - swipe - meta - blink tho, on the meta part, not the blink part. Although thats done by Lastinv, 3, 2. so maybe its using the slots that cause the lag?

    i do have 4 mouse buttons, so would it be easier to make 3 of the buttons weapon selects and make mouse1 attack? it seems like that would have the least chance of lagging or getting stuck. plus it would work on bs1 servers <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
