The First Man On The Skybox!
<div class="IPBDescription">The space race begins anew (56k warning)</div> For generations, mankind has looked to the heavens and thought..... why are we here? Is there some other form of intellegence out there in the cosmos, or are we alone in the universe?
In 1969, Neil Armstrong became the first man to land on the moon. Today, thirty six years later, I hope to emulate his achievement by becoming the first man to land on the HL2 skybox.
(insert space 2001 music here)
The first prototype was never intended to leave the surface of the earth. I called it: The boxmobile.
<img src='http://img64.exs.cx/img64/5493/gmconstruct00094yg.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
Once I knew I had a working prototype on my hands, I investigated the possibilites of man-powered travel.
<img src='http://img64.exs.cx/img64/9519/gmconstruct00128xa.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
The test was a resounding success. Sadly I was too busy laughing like a madman to take any pictures, and the buggy crashed into a corner shortly after I bailed from it.... yet these results were promising, and thus.... the space program began for real.
The first prototype rocket is not shown here; I forgot to take any pictures, so lets move straight on to the final creation. I call it: The Lerk.
<img src='http://img64.exs.cx/img64/81/gmconstruct00147bj.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
<img src='http://img64.exs.cx/img64/5021/gmconstruct00153tk.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
The launch preparations are being made, and the pilots are waving goodbye to their families. Prepare for final countdown!
Ten!
Nine!
Eight!
Seven!
Six!
Five!
Four!
Three!
Two.... what the hell?
*sound of rockets firing and the Lerk whizzes past in the background.... horizontally*
Um, we seem to be suffering from technical difficulties with our cameras, please stand by.
But wait! She's airbourne! The Lerk is away!
<img src='http://img114.exs.cx/img114/4518/gmconstruct00162wb.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
Good luck gentlemen, and god speed.... wait a minute, now what? Oh no! They don't have enough thrust to break out of the earth's atmosphere.... or too much.... I don't know which but she's coming apart!
<img src='http://img114.exs.cx/img114/2343/gmconstruct00179li.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
OH THE HUMANITY!

<img src='http://img114.exs.cx/img114/1108/gmconstruct00205ge.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
Ladies and gentlemen, please remain in your seats, emergency crews are on their way, the pilots inside may still be alive....

We all have done it in Garrys mod, but none of us write stories about it :|

Now how on earth did that happen? <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Did those canisters really lift that thing up that far?
Also.. I must be missing something else considering now I kind of want to get HL2. :-)
Ooo... I loved the story.

Yep, the rocket whizzed around the floor for a bit, then hit a bump and shot up into the air and got stuck in the corner of the skybox, which was when I decided to turn this into a story (too much free time was also a factor).
This was made using Gary's mod, the most awesomest mod EVAR, which basically lets you mess around with the physics, much like I did. I'm sure others will jump at the chance to post their own randomness, so go right ahead people, i'm sure you can do better than me <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
It's... I can't talk, ladies and gentlemen. Honest, it's just laying there, a mass of smoking wreckage, and everybody can hardly breathe and talk... I-I'm sorry. Honest, I can hardly breathe. I'm going to step inside where I cannot see it. Charlie, that's terrible. I... Listen folks, I'm going to have to stop for a minute, because I've lost my voice... This is the worst thing I've ever witnessed...
Very well dont you made me laugh well done haha n1

Omg! Think of the possibilites, a gorge on the skybox! It will surely go down in history as the most defining moment of human achievement!
