Just lost everything
I just came back from my weekend and the first thing I realise when I turn on my computer is that my C: FAT partition got damaged by Bill Gate's wincr*p and that I cannot boot from my hard drive or even see my hard drive on command mode. I've got forced to format and re-install. Everything I accumulated for two years was in a folder on my desktop, my links, STEAM that was in c:\program files everything, all lost. And I am stuck with a 56k for a undeterminated period of time so downloads are pain in the ***.

Can someone say me something encouraging before I go insane?

I think that you should have waited a bit; not format so quickly if you know that you have so many important files.
You could have given the HD to some repair shop; they should be able to take care of it a bit better than you, maybe recover some data.

Oops, you said encouraging? I read "lecturative..."

Well, I finally found the good part of this, I'l make a backup of everything I managed to save (I had a D: partition but most of my things were on C:) and I'l buy a second HD identical to the one I have for now and I'l make them RAID HDs.

Just a question about that: Do I need exactly the same type of HD or a HD of the same size will do the job?
