Lightgamma 0 (and the way to do it?)
gl_overbrigt 1/0 (rumor, does it help?)
low settings in gfx card? <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    gl_overbright doesn't work for me

    In your config

    Lightgamma 0
    alias lightgamma ""

low settings in gfx card (I guess... turning off AA would help a bunch) <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Actully i just tested low/high video settings, i couldn't see cloaked SCs in MS with any of them. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> thx for Lightgamma fix Forlorn. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Seriously I just think it's graphic card dependant

No, that's just plain wrong. It just makes stuff brighter, it does not make stuff black... which won't help you see cloaked stuff. It's locked at 2 or 2.5 or above anyway <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
Well, I could be wrong about 0. Maybe you set it really high at 10000 or something.

I do recall using it once recently (as in in the past month).

Uhm if you set it to 10000 I'm pretty sure EVERYTHING would be black.... not just models

BTW, this is what I'm talking about in the other thread <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> You are not aware of what these things can/cannot do... It's not a knock on you, it's just the truth =\

I just tested it and it didn't help me. Only thing it did do is give me a raging headache. Time for some tylenol. >.<

I'll try reducing texture detail levels, see if that helps.

rbh i think making the deatails better can help you see cloaked aliens.
with gl_texturemode set to gl_linear everything is sharp (no mattter the distance) (only for high ednd comps tho). You can see the outline of skulk from far away (remember cloaking is 95% and the outlines are visible)

I find them much easier to see when in front of a blurred texture. Crouching helps this by blurring the floor a little more.

if you turn on your flash light it some times "jumps" ie if your stadning still and looking at one spot it will move to the right and follow a target ie a cloaked alien its not always good but it some times works also give away your pos

Crap details on the surrondings will bring the cloaked up.

Looks like dynamic lights are incompatible with incredible lightgammas. Just don't turn on flashlights or let your comm drop phase gates <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

So, does cloaked just show up as completely blacked out or what?

btw, what settings did you do?

If you have a nvidia card: jack up your digital vibrance all the way and turn up sharpening all the way. Then adjust your brightness in the driver, then see if that helps.
  • UngodUngod Join Date: 2003-11-13 Member: 22738Members, Constellation, Reinforced - Shadow
when you increase gamma brightness, it increases the brightness of everything, yes you'll have a brighter cloaked skulk, but you'll also have a brighter background that the skulk is set upon, meaning you wont be able to tell a difference.
