Half-life 2 Being Sold Already

I actually got the HL2 box in my hands right now, I have no idea what's so special about it, but it was on sale here in some game store (Bart smit, Volendam, The Netherlands, for anyone interested).
Well anyway, no one will believe me, but I'm still kind of let down that Steam isn't releasing HL2 yet, ah well.. boring CS:S for me.

edit: BTW, I was scared buying it from steam at first because I figured with the inevitable early release, people would be playing it a few days before me. I didn't think about steam activation.

He's trying to tell you that Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines is released on the same day. It's been delayed because it uses source so they weren't allowed to release it before HL2 was out.

Yes, the lure of the dark side was great. I read the weapons bios in front section, but thankfully a huge spoiler warning sign before the character bio section made me stop.

From what I've seen of the weapon section, it doesn't even list each one that's in the game.

As someone who works at bestbuy.
Around I guess 3 or 4 pm est Corporate sent us information telling us to put anything that was due out Nov 16th on the floor as there had been a massive leak of almost all the product save for HL2. About 30minutes later Corporate sent another message saying to pull HL2 from the floor ASAP. My store was about 3hrs late. But only 3 copies. sold. I'm not sure how the other stores did with it though. I wouldn't be surprised if the game was unlocked tomorrow

There are two different prodcuts containing HL2, one has the the game on 5 cds, one has it on DVD with some other extras.

Euro version is DVD, US 6 CDs. The Collectors editon is DVD in both regions.

Valve should know about the registrations of game copies coming in through Steam, right?
I've told some of my friends in town that Bart Smit is selling HL2 early, so 2 others at least have bought it too and I've heard other stories of copies being sold early on the internet.
Shame Vivendi isn't letting them release it through Steam, though.

Was looking at the product listings for Gamestop, and remembered something - do any of you guys know which Prima book is included with the Collector's Edition (the big black box that comes with the tshirt)? I was wanting to get "Raising the Bar," but somehow I don't think that's the one that it comes with... they don't say if it's the strategy guide, or what. @.@

Its heresay. As long as no one admits to doing anything or post any how too's I don't think he should really be punished for that.

Either way, he's right, I have friends who exploit said methods.

im sure vivendi is well aware of hl2 being sold. they just wont let valve open up the registering of it.

The one that comes with the CE is the Prima strategy guide. Raising The Bar is the behind the scenes book from HL1-HL2 and should be available in all good book stores. (It's out on Amazon, at least).
