    models: Lt. Gravity (believe it or not <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->)
    meshes: Obst&Gemuese
    skins: Coltrane, Clashen (and more when all skins are finished)

    progress: same as last week and the week ago. the map is finished but there are some minor problems. I exceeded max clipnotes but after some test compiles I was pretty shure that this could be easily fixed by "cleaning" some areas, flatten some edges and removing few solids. so this map will be free for download when its compiled. cant tell exactly when this will be <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    *terrible annoyed*

    anyway, after doing THIS...

    <img src='http://mitglied.lycos.de/centercross/ns_source/source_entrance_west1.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
    SOURCE-HIVE ENTRANCE WEST

    <img src='http://mitglied.lycos.de/centercross/ns_source/source_entrance_west2.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

    ... I compiled one more time. and guess what? so I got a rage attack and nearly smashed something important. today I decided with a heavy heart to redesing one part of the map that is quite a clipnote eater. I also had to remove this:

    <img src='http://mitglied.lycos.de/centercross/ns_source/traintrack_3.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

    <span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>R.I.P.</span>

    btw: who could have use for a complex, vertex manipulated rock surfaces <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I started fixing some problmes although I couldnt compile it yet. like anybody said I changed the water texture. I reworked the existing ns water texture and made it bigger (size x4) so it doesnt look too wierd anymore. see what happened:

    <img src='http://mitglied.lycos.de/centercross/ns_source/ns_water_test0000.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

    <img src='http://mitglied.lycos.de/centercross/ns_source/ns_water_test0001.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

    <img src='http://mitglied.lycos.de/centercross/ns_source/ns_water_test0002.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

    <img src='http://mitglied.lycos.de/centercross/ns_source/ns_water_test0003.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
    MY FAVOURITE

    <img src='http://mitglied.lycos.de/centercross/ns_source/ns_water_test0004.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
    THE "BLOODY" TYPE <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    <img src='http://mitglied.lycos.de/centercross/ns_source/ns_water_test0005.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

    <img src='http://mitglied.lycos.de/centercross/ns_source/ns_water_test0006.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

    nowIm nearly finished with the redesign of the tram loading bay but it seems that I lost all my energy and if this wouldnt be enough, Im terrible ill atm. *sneezes*

    Just about everyone, I should think. That area looks damn good.

    Save the version of the map with too much detail for a remake on the source engine. You never know... <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    You could try covering the more complex surfaces with a clip brush, that should lower your clipnodes. Worth a try at least...
  • Lt_GravityLt_Gravity Join Date: 2003-04-28 Member: 15909Members
    and another we eaten away by this ****! this drives me mad!!! although I already shopped down detail more than I wanted to, this error doesnt disappear. 1/3 of all brushes are clipbrushes. Im running out of ideas what to do more. I know the problem is within the most important area in this map, its this damn source hive! what shall I do? lord, what shall I do?

    I should take a rest... but one cant stop till you have made it, thats my attitude. *mad*

    progress: <span style='font-size:21pt;line-height:100%'>NONE!</span>

    exept that Im sowhat **** off, I really cant describe it! this is the biggest pile of **** I ever spend time on!!! this is just too much for one life! it seems to be true: to get rid of this error I will have to remove one area completely so I have clipnotes left for my last hive. but the layout is finished and if I remove an area NOW it will destroy the gameflow. so the only way to fix this would be to rework the map. that this is something I <u>WONT</u> do for shure!!!

    thats so rediculous...

    Try optimizing the geometry more before you delete any of it. Try making the same polygons out of fewer brushes. In general, the fewer brushes you use, the simpler the clipping hulls will be.

    ...

    beta release if I got rid of the last leaf to leaf error.

    not shure when this will be. the map is crap anyway, had to delete the complete source hive environment and an alternate route. good news: to save some work I brought back the old tram tunnel that some people wanted to see so badly.

    <span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>Back to life!</span>

    elevators are still buggy. some soundfiles still missing. vehicle texture missing, dropship missing. but Im literally fed up with this project. but there will be a version of it this year definetely.

    general bad news: I got hl2 yesterday <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->. good news: I doubt my system will be able to run it properly <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> so...     I DONT think so.

    made a little mistake yesterday. after wasting hdd space by an unsuccessful hl2 installation, I had to delete my steam folder to free my space because unistall only removed the hl2 id files.
    so I also deleted my ns_source.wad by accident <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> but this isnt as bad, I got a backup of an old version. now I just have to remove most of the textures (AGAIN!). because I changed the walk sound of some textures by renaming standart ns2.wad textures I will have to copy and rename them (AGAIN!).

    like I said, there is a lot of special work "hidden" in this map.
