Umm... there was no point in reporting that. They are only showing like a fraction of precints reporting in. No way Indiana had only 150,000 people vote for President.

They are also saying Bush won Georgia with 0%, and Kerry lost with 0%. That OBVIOUSLY doesn't count.

As much as I would love to get excited over Bush's early lead, it's long been expected that it would pan out as so.

We won't get to the good stuff till around 9-10.

Still I have a good feeling about this; I'm waiting for NJ, which I hear could very well go to Bush and completely through off predictions.

Just getting a thread started about the race. I'm assuming that most will have a few words when the results start coming in. Wanted to be the first to post the first results that come in .

Yeah, I'm looking foward to New Jersey's results. 2 weeks ago, a poll had them at 50:50. Simply amazing for a "very" blue state

Oh, looks like west virgina is going to bush.

Thanks.

What is it now? 156 Bush vs 112 Kerry I think? That's looking bad for Kerry. He should be leading if he's counting on most of the northeast to get most of the votes.

It's great watching all the talking heads tip-toe around placing any names in the Win column They're all afraid to make the same mistakes from 4 years ago.
Best bet is to wait for all the State polls to close. And that might take awhile because many local polling stations are extending their deadlines to prevent "disenfranchisement" accusations.

I've been sniffing around through various sites and I have to say that CNN's election website appears to be pretty solid. They have access to all Senate and Congressional voting races from every State along with the Presidential race.
They even have 1 of our 2 Ballot Propositions. Of course, we had to vote on whether or not to ban same-sex marriages in the State constitution--I'm sure they'll all be interested in that one. The other was just a vote on whether or not to force our State government to have us vote everytime a new casino or lottery game is proposed here.

Impressively enough, the BBC site seems to have the best monitor I've seen thus far: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/shared/spl/hi/amer...tml/default.stm

Really cool to click back and forth between this year's and 2000 and see how things are lining up... well... almost identical

Ok, lets see Kerry jump ahead by... oh... 81 more electorial votes as fast as Bush jumps it up. *waits* Just 77 more for Bush....

California has 55. Pennsylvania has 21. Those could add up the totals real quick. Of course, all it takes is one state switching allegiance between this year and 2000 and we've got a result.

They just use projections, that's why.

If the current trends hold up, and the projections hold up, one state different from last year could seal the deal for Kerry (and likewise for Bush, though he technically would have the advantage if everything stayed the same). However, there's also been some electoral vote shuffling, so even then there's no guarantee how the numbers will compare with last time. *head a splode*

I fully expect Bush to win, even though I'd prefer different, but it's crazy how much things could still change by the time things are finally decided. I try not to think about it, but... yeah.

Man, hands down best coverage to watch: Daily Show Indisicion 2004: Prelude to a Recount. Al Sharpton just burned the republicans good. Much more fun going on here than on CNN.

I sure hope Bush wins, at least. At this rate, he is sure to.

Like I said, he wasnt THAT bad a president if it is really this close.

It's pretty much down to Ohio. Florida looks like a lock for Bush. If trends continue then whomever wins Ohio will pass 270.

Each vote Bush gets is a confirmation of America's ignorance and stupidity to me that hits like a searing hot spear... Thank God I've got a dual citizenship in the EU, I'm not staying here while there's a murdering fascist in the White House.

I'd place my bets on New Mexico being the deciding factor. I'm guessing Ohio goes to Bush, but Kerry could have a solid shot at New Hampshire and Nevada, which (of course, assuming all other trends match 2000) could tip the balance. Of course, New Mexico may go to Bush, meaning it comes down to NH, in which case I think the shift in electoral vote movement gives an extra +6 or so to the GOP compared to 2000 (and even in the event of the same electoral split as previous with NH shifting, there'd be no one reaching 270, which would make things REAL fun....)

It's still anyone's race right now.

Well, not mine. Or Ralph Nader's. But you know what I mean.
