<div class="IPBDescription">Help me</div> Ok I give up, I'm financing a brand new pc. What i need help with is where to finance it from?

I've got a few suggestions for what i want, But I want to be sure which one is the best choice.

The general idea of what I want:

Amd 64 bit 3000+
1024 MB (512MBx2) PC3200 400MHz Dual Channel DDR MEMORY
Good but Cheap Mobo that will support these. *which should come with the selections*
40 gig hardrive. (even 20)
Whatever is cheaper.
Ati 9800pro-x800
I doubt the x800 because Im not rich but whatever offers.
Thats the core of what I need. The rest of it I can replace with what I have on my current pc.

Some sites that I have got are..
<a href='http://www.alienware.com' target='_blank'>http://www.alienware.com</a> (overpriced?)
<a href='http://www.cyberpowersystem.com/' target='_blank'>http://www.cyberpowersystem.com/</a>
<a href='http://www.dell.com' target='_blank'>http://www.dell.com</a>

Simply I do not know where to take my money to for the best bang for the buck.

Please help me and keep in mind this is not supposed to be a dream machine with a ton of money backing it <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

May I suggest more than only 40 GB of space? Even if you don't need much space, HDDs are cheap today, so rather get more and be prepared for the future... <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Well for the past 6 years I have been well over surviving on 2 hardrives.

    Hardive 1: 7gigs

    Hardrive 2: 15gigs

    40 is plenty for me.

I've never used it myself, but I hear <a href='http://www.newegg.com' target='_blank'>newegg</a> is good.

    To finance a whole computer?
  • The_ThingThe_Thing Join Date: 2003-02-25 Member: 13993Members
I suggest not to get any brandname computer. Instead build your own computers with the listen parts.

Building your own is teh best. I built mine using a For Dummies book...

    Shutup....

Yeah, I think building your own is better (but not if you don't know what you're doing). As for the harddrive space, you should get more, unless you absolutely strapped for cash. It depends on how much parts cost where you live, but the $/gig probably goes down a lot with 80-200 gig hard drives. You may not think you need it now, but it certainly is nice to have a plenty of room.

Guys, thats my whole dilemna. If I built my own computer I wouldnt be able to finance it through the company.

I have yet to find a company that finances singular computer compenents.

Well, you could buy a system from Falcon Northwest, take it apart, then rebuild it for kicks. Falcons are very customizable, giving you a huge range a parts to choose from. It's like building your own PC, but without the whole "building your own PC" part.

I would tend to move away from dell. It took me 5 weeks to get my laptop from them and 4 weeks for a desktop system <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Although I was told this was because they were having trouble with stocks of P4's

    Edit: Just had a look at <a href='http://www.cyberpowersystem.com/' target='_blank'>http://www.cyberpowersystem.com/</a> they seem ok to me <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Don't be intimadated by building a PC, it's not all that difficult. Components these days are so standardized that it's something of a "snap together" affair.

i think you should build your own pc. among those three, cyberpowersystems is probably the cheapest, however, it still doesnt come close to the cheapness of building together your own comp. also, it doesnt have very good reviews, if you check resellerratings

building a computer isnt hard. try it and spend the $100+ dollars you saved on candy

He was trying to build a computer a while a go, couldn't find any place that financed parts individually. I would suppose that is why he's financing a whole box now, so don't bother telling him that building is better

Good processor you've chosen. 64 Bits are the way too go now.

It may be simple, but there can be complications, and things you may overlook.

My video card was very awkward to get in, and the sound card was stopping it's fan from spinning.

I dropped a screw in the case, and i <i>still</i> can't find it, but nothing has gone wrong yet, so i gave up looking.

Ultimately, if all goes well, you should be looking at 4 hours MAX

    Dude..

If you look through the configure program on any of those sites, I meant a cheap mobo, as like not the most expensive out of the 3 choices when using that build program thing.
  • ElderwyrmElderwyrm Join Date: 2003-04-07 Member: 15296Members
Your really getting ripped off financing it through a company with their through the roof interest rates.

Better off buying the parts individually and financing them with a credit card.

but serously "finance" it by credit card make payments, DO YOUR RESEARCH buy parts
from newegg, then take them all to a computer shop for them to build it for you, for like 50 bucks its not that hard...

go to a local computer shop, and ask them. They cn get all the right parts and explain to you what you need and what you dont and how best to get it built. This assumes the place has honest people, and the smaller the store, the better chances of honesty.

They're called "debit cards" and work just like credit cards, except the money transfer is done at the time of the purchase, not the end of the month. Visa Electron for example is a debit card

That doesn't allow financing, though, which is what he needs.

Then maybe parents. They're people that you have around and give money on certain occasions. Each are unique and have a more or less strict rules <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Gees, processor is easier then ram, you just put it in the slots, and clamp it down, then your done. If you don't know how to put on a heatsink you should be shot, the only thing some people miss is that you absolutly can't press down on the CPU or you risk cracking it.
