My Workplace Was...robbed?!

...enjoy your $22.50
Yep, that's right.

They shimmied the door open with a crowbar (luckily the door still closes and locks ). They the proceded to take their power-drill and bore into the safe about 15 times, before hitting a wire which made a beeping noise (we're still not sure what was beeping). This probably scared them off...but not before they grabbed a register out of the freezer, where they brought it to a field behind the store, broke the till-drawer open and left it sitting in the field... after they had taken the $22.50 in loose change...

After getting to work today, I find out the place was robbed on Monday night/Tuesday morning (when the place was closed). I had off .

The police dusted for finger prints on the safe, and they got around to cleaning the metal shavings off the floor (...I'd like a pepperoni and steel pizza, please...). And now we need a new safe (and hopefully a new door, because that thing is paper thin and a credit card could break it open). So, now we've got a whole one working register...hooray .

So, there you have it; someone robbed the store during the night for about $23 in loose change...

Coincidently enough, Little Caesars was robbed the same night.

Which is equally strange, being as I'm in a town with about 20,000 people. Along with the fact our store had a safe so poorly made a power drill can bore through it.

Haf working where I work gives youy incite into robbery prevention.

Our safe is a good 4 inches thick and concreted into the floor after people started using explosives to blow holes in the walls and take the safes out with a truck/winch effort. Inside that safe is another safe with anti-tilt alarms and an electronic time delay lock and inside that is the money. Before they even get to the safe they have to somehow get through 3 doors, past two security cameras and motion sensors withour tripping the alarm then another door to the safe room.

All of that and we don't tend to have more than a few thousand pounds in it over night anyway ^_^

Our safe is cemented into the ground in the back room.

We've had one break-in ever, but the guy wasn't well equipped enough to crack it, ended up just chipping the paint off the side with some blunt object and making a few dents in the metal on top. He did make off with a box of fruit roll-ups though, which I found hilarious.

Although went into my local Natwest bank the other day to pick up my student card thing and they took me into the back to find the card. Wandered past a big damn steel door about 3 feet thick... wide open. I'm not sure if that was the vault but hemmmm

We have to keep the back door at the restaurant locked because the shopping plaza we're in has had a string of robberies.

I remember seeing on the news that a robber killed an old lady for her purse, supposedly she demanded that she didn't have any money, the robber didn't believe her, shot her and stole the purse. Later on the purse was found with around $0.63. The man was put in for life and the son threw the change at the murderer in the court room.
