Can Some1 Explain How Leap Works?

in the manual, leap damage is listed as number of touches x 4
now this has puzzled me, and in my efforts to use leap, i have only ever managed to kill a single marine. although it is quite useful in negotiating a level quickly, i cant help but think im doing something wrong with it. So if ppl who have sucessfully used leap could give some pointers, it would be much appreciated

My understanding of it is that you'll get your 16dmg x 4 only if you hit your target in the center. Leap is hard to control since you'll jump forward very quick, so you'll usually get one or two hits at best if you're off-center.
A good idea is to use it to leap towards him and then quickly switch to Bite while airborne. I've torn apart numerous marines with that tactic. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
An ideal Leap/Bite attack to a marine who doesn't know you're there will <i>theoretically</i> do about 80 damage:
Leap = 16dmg x 2 (on average) = 32dmg
Bite = 50dmg
You'll sometimes get another bite in before they get a shot at you if you're lucky. They're pretty much dead by then. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Now, if this is the case, people with lower pings will do more damage per second with leap and charge than people with higher pings.
Could a dev shed some light here?
BTW sycophant, skulk bite is 75 damage.
The leap confuses me as, from what I can tell, there is only one "touch": the basic impact. Perhaps it is possible to hold foward or attack and grapple with your target?

its the server's interpretation of what happened, i.e. whether u hit him or not with leap
