haha i got picked randomly out of thousands of people to be in a gunner seat of one of those mechs, it was rediculously awesome. Only the Devs got to pilot them, but they were letting normal people in (Dont even know how I got picked:))

for the first hour or two the mechs were sitting in their respective sanctuaries (think Home Bases) and they couldnt even move because of the hundreds of people surrounding the mechs

then we went on an attack, and we saw the terran mech kick two tanks out of his way and keep running... very cool

Actually, it doesn't say "free" anywhere. Just "try Planetside for 30 days" and then later "at a very special price." $9.95.

Dammit. I don't have the money nor the time to get back into PS, even if the game is better and my computer and connection can finally handle it.

Even mechs should have weaknesses. >_>

From what i read, they have Anti-Infantry, Anti-Tank, AND Anti-Air weaponry.
This probably means that who ever has the greater number of mechs wins.

Besides, it's $ony ($ for the lack of a demo, fyi) Online.

Did you expect ballance?

Teh BFRs (Big Fesking Robots) have their weaknesses, the Vanu's "Fairy Voltron'" can fly in it's pastel paintjob, making it extremely manuverable. The NC's "John Deer with legs" has Shields, reducing damage taken, but still keeping the manuverablilty speed up. and the TR's "ED 303 wannabe" has an insane number of weapons (and i think it can anchor, but im not sure) but, it's slow as granma on the California freeway.

yes, you need Core Combat for it, but the new box set, Planetside: Aftershocks has both for 10 bucks.

It seems that you're getting the MAX units and BFRs mixed up.
TR MAX can anchor to the ground, increasing fire rate, NC MAX has a personal shield, VS MAX can fly for short periods of time.
All BFRs have shields, there are BFR variants, single, gunner, and flying, gunner and flying are unlocked by killing a certain amount of things in single. Gunner allows you to have another person in the BFR to control another set of guns, and flying allows you to boost into the air for short periods of time, like the VS MAX.
All BFRs have the same amount of weapons I believe.

On the back of all BFRs is a small shield generator box, this box is very vulnerable to light arms fire, which pierces their shield. If this box takes enough damage, their shield drops, allowing everything to pound them down pretty fast.

nope, i was mistaken. But the manuverability diffrences between em are still sound.

Hell I LOVE the BFRs, light vehicles actually have a purpose again!

A BFR has little to fear from a tank firing constantly at the front of its sheilds, but plenty to fear from a sneaky Moquito, Lightning, or even HARRASER who can get around the back and take out the shield generator. And given the poor field-of-vision and turn speed of the BFRs, its suprisingly easy.

*hugs my lightning*

Aparently the sniper rifle does an insane amount of damage to the BFRs, after being pinned down for a while I managed to cripple a BFR but his 3 friends took me out many a time for me to get that far, jammer gernades seem to have some effect on them but nothing major, but yes smaller faster vehicles seem to be having good results with BFRs, its just a shame there are enough BFRs on the feild to cover each others backs.

Oh and fails seem to kill off BFRs fast too.

Anyone want to join me on Wrener, just Tell Rellix or add me to friends or something if your TR.

Lol, in that picture, look at the little NC pointing his Decimator futilely at the TR BFR, and I MAX (I think) getting squished by the BFR's massive treads. Are they as fun as they sound? I haven't played for a long time! I think you can still be attacked by the BFRs and even train with them in the virtual reality zone, but you need Core Combat to actually pilot one. Also, these new BFRs just introduce alot strategy into the game!

Imagine: Head hunter squads, it would be like an APC filled with snipers on a 100% mortality mission to drive behind a Mech and take shields down! Three APCs simutaneously rush out, the first one explodes, only one head hunter gets out, but is killed as he is stepped on. The next 2 APCs make it behind, but one explodes and the 4 head hunters that pile out are quickly melted by enemy Lashers. The last apc manages to block enemy fire for the head hunters. The head hunters complete their mission, taking down shields before they fufill their duties and are ripped apart by enemy fire.

EDIT: PS isn't about crouching, shooting, and dying. It is about strategy, and if that is all you doing in PS, your not playing right. It is alot more interesting if you go join an outfit and specialize yourself in a particular battlefield trade.

I didn't like Planetside all that much. Seemed like too much boring crouch-shooting, driving, and waiting to respawn so you can do it again.

EDIT: Too much effort.

That, and my subscription ended September 30th.

Easy way to take em down is rapid weapon infantry/max at the rear and heavy fire on the front.

That and air vehicles take em out easy.

I did that month trial and somehow sony managed to kill my account before it even started, so I had to pay another$20 to get the stupid thing activated. And then it said I had 2 months of subscription, but it only lasted 1 month.
