It looks awesome, however.
for the first hour or two the mechs were sitting in their respective sanctuaries (think Home Bases) and they couldnt even move because of the hundreds of people surrounding the mechs
then we went on an attack, and we saw the terran mech kick two tanks out of his way and keep running... very cool

Im on Werner as Rellix
=/
i played planetside a while ago but didnt like the idea of playing something that constantly cursed armagedon on my PC
We faught over an outpost for 2 hours and still struggled to get in. Those BFRs beat infintry any day, hell tanks had troubles getting em down.

Actually, it doesn't say "free" anywhere. Just "try Planetside for 30 days" and then later "at a very special price." $9.95.

Even mechs should have weaknesses. >_>
From what i read, they have Anti-Infantry, Anti-Tank, AND Anti-Air weaponry.
This probably means that who ever has the greater number of mechs wins.
Besides, it's $ony ($ for the lack of a demo, fyi) Online.
Did you expect ballance?
I didn't. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
yes, you need Core Combat for it, but the new box set, Planetside: Aftershocks has both for 10 bucks.
It seems that you're getting the MAX units and BFRs mixed up.
TR MAX can anchor to the ground, increasing fire rate, NC MAX has a personal shield, VS MAX can fly for short periods of time.
All BFRs have shields, there are BFR variants, single, gunner, and flying, gunner and flying are unlocked by killing a certain amount of things in single. Gunner allows you to have another person in the BFR to control another set of guns, and flying allows you to boost into the air for short periods of time, like the VS MAX.
All BFRs have the same amount of weapons I believe.
On the back of all BFRs is a small shield generator box, this box is very vulnerable to light arms fire, which pierces their shield. If this box takes enough damage, their shield drops, allowing everything to pound them down pretty fast.

A BFR has little to fear from a tank firing constantly at the front of its sheilds, but plenty to fear from a sneaky Moquito, Lightning, or even HARRASER who can get around the back and take out the shield generator. And given the poor field-of-vision and turn speed of the BFRs, its suprisingly easy.
*hugs my lightning*
Oh and fails seem to kill off BFRs fast too.
Anyone want to join me on Wrener, just Tell Rellix or add me to friends or something if your TR.
There's a guy in our outfit called "Rellick" who I thought might be you, but apparently not. What outfit you in Rellix?

Imagine: Head hunter squads, it would be like an APC filled with snipers on a 100% mortality mission to drive behind a Mech and take shields down! Three APCs simutaneously rush out, the first one explodes, only one head hunter gets out, but is killed as he is stepped on. The next 2 APCs make it behind, but one explodes and the 4 head hunters that pile out are quickly melted by enemy Lashers. The last apc manages to block enemy fire for the head hunters. The head hunters complete their mission, taking down shields before they fufill their duties and are ripped apart by enemy fire.
EDIT: PS isn't about crouching, shooting, and dying. It is about strategy, and if that is all you doing in PS, your not playing right. It is alot more interesting if you go join an outfit and specialize yourself in a particular battlefield trade.
EDIT: Too much effort.
That, and my subscription ended September 30th. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
That and air vehicles take em out easy.

I did that month trial and somehow sony managed to kill my account before it even started, so I had to pay <i>another</i><b>$20</b> to get the stupid thing activated. And then it said I had 2 months of subscription, but it only lasted 1 month.
