    After looking at the full bracket, I'm surprised Rayne from Bloodrayne 1&2 is nowhere to be found. Seriously, there's few things better than a hot bodied Nazi-slicing vampire. All I can think of is a hot bodied pirate ninja vampire slicing up Nazis while wearing a parrot on her shoulder and using crazy ninja silent psychic communication for her piratespeak as she used her pirate hook, which could be switched up with a shuriken launcher or normal hand via a Transformers-like flippy thingy in her wrist.

    [edit2]Should I feel like a console-deprived child because I haven't ever played games with Link or Cloud for more than 15 consecutive minutes?

    Marik... if you somehow consider Bloodrayne as being worthy to sit anywhere on the brackets presented (well... maybe excepting FF7 crap), you have a LOT of gaming to catch up on.

    And you've got that sign backward, Defiance. Cloud's got a big sword... but Link's will fire stuff across the screen and kill him in one, maybe two hits. Plus, Link doesn't have to wait around for his turn to come up.. he'll just roll on over and beat the crap out of whine-boy.

    I love FF7, but Link is blatantly superior to Cloud.

    1.) Link has bombs. Bombs are clearly better than anything Cloud could field. The bombs also have more personality than Barrett did.

    2.) Link has a sword that <i>shoots other swords.</i> Does Cloud have that? Hmm? Does Cloud have a sword-shooting sword? No? I didn't think so.

    3.) Real men wear stocking caps. Link is a real man, why isn't Cloud?

    4.) Link destroys real villians. I mean, Sephiroth could be in Dashboard Confessional or something. Maybe he could play guitar for Modest Mouse. Unless he sings like he fights, in which case Link will come beat him down.

    5.) Link is secure in his masculinity. He beats down rock-spitting octopi, then he enjoys playing the flute. Cloud uses way too much hair gel, carries around that big sword (compensation much?) and goes out of his way to avoid spending time with Aeris and Tifa.

    i cant believe cloud got any votes....

    i just recently played thru ff7, and while the game was pretty good, cloud seems like too much of a whiner to actually fight link...

    sides, cloud would be too busy forgetting whether or not he was fighting link or fighting himself to actually fight... but link knows what the hell he's doin

    and link is fighting for zelda, and what is cloud fighting for? hell, i just played ff7 and i still dont know

    Cloud is a better character based souly on the fact that of all the unconfortably silent video game hero's Cloud had to deal with a hell of a lot more gritty crap then link ever did. I haven't played wind waker or majoras mask to any great extent, but as far as I can decern, link simply doesn't have emotions outside of obligitory chivalrous stuff, as a video game hero, Link's persona is brutally cliche. Even though he doesn't talk any more, you read alot more into cloud's character. Honestly Samus should have had it, and realisticly probably would have if her armor didn't look so fruity and she had some greater coolness factor, like a giant sword, or missle packs or something.

    Who ever said mega man should be distroyed. I mean Barret had a gun grafted onto his arm too, and it was a hell of alot cooler than the blue orb shooter. On top of all that, he was a big black guy, and he didn't wear a blue spandex bodysuit, which I think should sink the mega man series for its inclusion alone.

    Link won, but it's pretty impressive that a character from one game, FF7, has almost as many fans as an entire game franchise/empire...
