I have 2 friends who are awesome
on the guitar... damn you talanted people!
..Right. Well, I can play a pretty competent c-scale exercise <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> I'm teaching myself, and I haven't exactly gotten up to the part where I memorise eighteen pages of mozart.
Edit: Ohhh I see, you're a natural selection discussion fella. Ok.
what were we talking about?
That only works for guys though.
it can actually makes migranes worse.
The only pieces I can play decently are Axel F (Theme from Beverly Hills Cop), the theme to Zelda (I did this one by ear). If I had the time, I wouldn't mind playing jazz.
I think I can still do a bit of the Final Fantasy VI theme - I did this one by ear as well, though I know there's an actual transcript of FFVI put out, so no, my piece isn't the Real McCoy.
One more thing: Ben Folds Five piano pieces rock!

low blood pressure headache + arousal = PAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!1
My opinion of piano is a cynical one. I can't see anywhere where the skills learned from playing piano can be practically applied. While practicing and improving help develop a sense of patience and determination, hobbies like writing or drawing often require this same devotion, but are much more useful in the real world. Honestly, how many parents send their kids to learn piano believing they'll become the next Beethoven?
But the real question is this... who can play the tuba! Rawr!
(And yes, I can play the tuba. I'm not being a moron. Well, not totally, that is.)

useful application #1: Impress the chicks.
useful application #2: Impress the hot chicks.
useful application #3: Impress the extremely hot chicks.
That aside, piano is still fun. The only thing wrong with it is the parents who force their kids to do it against their will. And there are a hell of a lot of them. You may as well force them to play soccer or swim instead.. it's better for them.
and then you wonder what kind of a childhood that had/have/will have and you realise that it is non existant.
Orchestras are different, they are also social groups.
EDIT: and what girl gets impressed by pianos???!!Sry dude, never heard of a hot, geek girl. most of them want astin martins, or bentley gt's in order to be impressed.
If you think you need piano, or cars, or money to get girls.. well maybe there's a reason you're still single fellas <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Nevertheless, piano is fun.
But who plays PIANO at band camp?
Oh, and on the subject of the hot chicks, do I have to mention keytar again? It is clinically proven to attract the women-types.
our latin teacher ftw

First you get the piano, then you get the power, then you get the women.
Anyone who says it's easy(and who has never played 'em before) is retarded.
