<div class="IPBDescription">1.6 million Players Per Month</div> I was just checking out the <a href='http://www.steampowered.com/status/game_stats.html' target='_blank'>stats over on SteamPowered.com</a> today and saw the small print near the top of the screen on the "STEAM PLAYER NUMBER STATISTICS" page...
<b>Average unique users per month: 1,633,763 </b>

Is it just me... or dose anyone else think that no game will ever have <b>that</b> big of a player base?

It had more players than the next 2 or 3 games in the list combined. This was about a year ago though.

I think cs is still the #1 played mod though. NS wasn't too high up in the ranks though <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> I think it was 4th out of most played mods
Well, it's the most played MOD... and most played FPS (in general) of all time as well.

good point <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
The current MMOs with the largest number of accounts are probably Everquest, Final Fantasy XI, and Ultima Online. When it comes it <b>unique</b> accounts, all 3 combine dont even = 1 million.
Both EverQuest and UO each have about 150 - 200 thousand active Accounts... and a certian % of those accounts are duplicates or triplicates of the same person.
as to whether it is played for more man-hours than, say, counterstrike, I dunno...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHHA no.
Everquest: Last Month was reported at 700,000 subscribers, 400,000 at peak times each night.
Final Fantasy XI: 600,000 subscribers(worldwide), 350-450k on at all times(being that our peak hours are opposite JP, and vice versa. And now that were adding euros to the mix, it'll be even more- and more peak hour times).
Ultima Online: Last I remember(this could be REALLY old) 450,000 subscribers, 200,000 on at peak hour times.
...Lineage kicks our ****, but we definately topple 1 million.
Nothing else is needed to be said.
Wow... I wonder how many new mice were sold that month, with 6 million people clicking nonstop <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

No offence but you honestly seem to have no idea what you're talking about... Koreans have so many MMORPGs I can't even begin to count them. Without even remotely trying I could link you to at least 12 and if I sat down and looked I could find in the range of 30 or more.
Where do you think Ragnarok Online Orginated from? Ever heard of Talesweaver? Nexus? Laghaim? Corum? Lateinos? Frigging MU Online came from korea ><
With their online culture I'd hazard a guess to say that Koreans are responsible for producing more MMORPGs than any other country!!! o.O
<insert evil scheming and plotting>

<span style='color:white'>Ooooh! Snide sexism! I'm thinking... no.</span> Not really.
The Sims sucks. Any game that does not have a gun in it sucks.
That is the official opinion of my country.

wow, where'd you get that graph from? I've never tried lineage, and out of all the games on that graph, I strangely know the least about it. it must be that I'm living in a cave...
both lineage and lineage 2 got pretty horrible reviews - why does lineage have more than two times the subscribers of all the other games combined?
I wonder where planetside would be on that chart... not an RPG but MMO...
As a result you kinda get sorta 'loyalty' as people stick to their personal bangs and they end up as pretty powerful social groups online. Its thanks to many of the players being in the same room you can see so many over the top examples of intricate teamwork in korean MMOs such as armies marching in formation, synchronised artillery and highly coordinated siege attacks =o
Hey, i played the sims, and have 6 of the 7 EX packs.
The women tend(<i>tend</i>) to play the game properly.
While the men tend(<i>tend</i>) to toture the poor bastards.
Sadly Planetside would barely even register on the chart, with just over 50,000 players last I heard.
<a href='http://www.planetside.com' target='_blank'>Planetside: Aftershock</a> may change matters though.

Thats so wrong. Unless I just happnen to know a lot of sadistic women. Every girl I know that played the Sims in any incarnation absolutly LOVED to torture and rain misery on their little people. They'd do stuff I'd consider beyond sick. Like walling a little kid in a room, and let it starve to death in a pile of its own waste. Ye gods.
