Xp Sp2 Errors

Yea I just uninstalled xp sp2 it's bad news! Printing was a nightmare it closes down the printer ports used by the printer and most of your p2p software will not work also had some lag issues with NS. Just avoid it and if you installed it just unistall via the add/remove program in control panel.

    Funny, I have SP2 and I can still print fine. My P2P software works very well too. Perhaps you didn't disable the Windows Firewall? SP2 re-enables it for you if you didn't notice...

    NO i did disable the firewall really! I had to get something printed right then and None of my computers would do it nor the computer connected right to the printer. It was very very ******** anyway I like the new stuff but just the printing and the p2p stuff wasn't workin.

    The built-in popup blocker is a plus too. No more third-party software to block third-party ads....... <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    And that's why you use Mozilla or Opera.

    Windows is aimed for basicly everyone to use which in turn causes the problems it has been caused. They simply made the security too strict which confuses many of its users, unlike Linux which is already aimed for the freaks of computers Windows' not.

    my sp2 works perfectly even with the firewall enabled, just configure it to let ns and the p2p programs work ;>

    I love computers, and I often work with them for money until I am certified next year

    I should also like to note that I don't get any problems with SP2.

    Everything in SP2 can be done using free, third party software that doesn't carry the distinct risk of borking your computer.

    I do not intend on upgrading unless they patch some horrible exploit that doesn't require me to do something stupid (like run around saying, "yes, install whatever you like internet!") and can't fix without sp2 installed.

    Service pack 2 is fine. The only problems I have had are that the Java Applets I write generate Security warnings under Sp2 that they dont generate under SP1. I also could not network my printer to a SP1 computer. Otherwise, it works perfectly. I would HIGHLY recommend SP2. The way IExplorer handles scripts is awesome. The security is good as well.

    Yeah it totally breaks everything. If "everything" means "little or nothing". Our entire network where I am is upgrading PC's to SP2. I we can upgrade hundreds of machines to Sp2 without problems, I doubt SP2 has any serious flaws.

    The best thing about Microsoft products is the fact that to fix any problems, all I have to do is install more memory. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I really don't get what people do to have their PCs crash all the time under windows. With the exception of Millenium on an Athlon PC, almost every example of an unstable system I've ever seen has been down to user or hardware issues.

    One or two people are having problems sure, but for the 99.9% of users SP2 is absolutely fine. Considering there is about to be a new virus leased on us in the next week or so exploiting the <a href='http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/09/24/jpeg_exploit_toolkit/' target='_blank'>jpeg vunerability</a> it worries me that <a href='http://www.steampowered.com/status/survey.html' target='_blank'>so many people</a> aren't updating because of bad press. :/
