    I really think a developer should be contacted about these minimaps, they're great for new people and could maybe be official.

    what's involved in making sprites translucent? (or transparant as most people seem to like calling them <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->) Can it be done using the standard tools of sprviewer/sprwiz and PS?
  • cortexcortex Join Date: 2003-11-28 Member: 23707Members
    yes, render them in additive your sweet. Not 100% about these minimaps though, if it doesnt work try all of them <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
  • WindburnWindburn Join Date: 2003-08-02 Member: 18711Members, Constellation
    rendering them in additive removes the last colour being transparent - end result being a whole lot of red on the screen. hrm, can anyone else help me work out the process for doing these properly translucent?

    Hi,

    Tx a lot for keeping those minimaps up-to-date. I wonder how other people can remember the places in all the maps without the location names in the minimap.

    It really is a <span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>great</span> help. Keep up the good work !!!!!

    Greetz,
    XtOf

    btw, I have added a link in my sig

    Oh crap, i just worked out how it's done- and that looks nasty <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
    its like a checkerboard of transparant colour and the actual colours behind the map.
    Oh what fun, gonna get started on them <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Yay! Thanks very much. I was a bit reluctant to download them at first because of the map changes in beta 5, but it seems you've updated your maps to comply with the new changes.

    Thanks again, keep up the good work <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->.

    Hey all, i've done all the maps over in this pack for all you transparant minimap lovers.
    Once i have permission from a8085 that i can post the transparant version of his fantastic minimaps, i'll be more than happy to do so.

    Okay, a8085 has graciously allowed me to release these - i'm not sure what the demand is like on these things, but would someone be able to host the file please? (it's like the whole of 250k). Thanks in advance.

    No problems at all - i decided not to make the location names transparent, i figure you dont want to have problems seeing the very thing the maps are intended for <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    C&C more than welcome, i tried to keep to the original colours as best i can, but with the transparency it doesn't make much of an evident difference between shades of blue.

    Hope you guys enjoy these.

    *edit* oh and Bry, i uploaded an archive to the FTP with the screenie included, thanks for the hosting once again <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Okay, the labelled minimaps are missing on Bry's server. What gives?

    Why don't they include these in the official releases, anyhow?

    Hi, a8085

    I've been using your minimaps with location names for quite a while and they have been really helpfull (thought I now use the transparant versions of ensia), please read the post I made in <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=85940&hl=minimap' target='_blank'>his topic</a>.

    I want to thank you for all the work you have put into making those minimaps, I couldn't play (live?) without them.

    Greetz,
    XtOf
