<div class="IPBDescription">My Review</div> Just got back from seeing an early showing of Resident Evil: Apocalypse and I must say it was not what I expected.
It is rated R for non-stop violence, and man they weren't kidding. The entirety of the movie was action, guns, fighting, and violence. I would say it's an action fans dream to see this movie.
Do not see this movie if A.) You are expecting any character development whatsoever B.) If you are a big fan of the games and expect parts of them to be implemented into the movie b/c they pretty much aren't. The only parts that are like the games is the Nemesis, Jill Valentine, and the zombies. C.) If you hate action movies.
This is straight up, 100%, all action the whole way. I would suggest seeing this if you are just wanting to be entertained and looking for some fun.
<b><span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>CAUTION DO NOT GO INTO THIS MOVIE EXPECTING A WHOLE LOT!!!!</span></b>
Overall, very entertaining.

This movie is pretty much Book 5. Nemisis.
This book was about Jill Valentine, meeting up with Carlos Olivera and trying to escape Racon City.
Carlos had come in with a platoon of Umbrella Mercenaries and had been told they were a rescue and observation team but were really test subjects to see how well they stood up against the "victims" of the outbreak."
The book never had the Im Alice the super evolved **** kicker in it etc. but hey, the movie takes some of the plot and then well. Takes it in an entirely new direction lol.

No, that's Resident Evil3: Nemesis, Book 5 is just a recap of the game, because that's exactly what RE3 is.

And in all fairness, RE3 is the most action-y of all the RE's I've seen.
[haven't played RE0 or RE on GC, but I'd assume they're sort of horror...ish]
It's a lot more shooting and has a lot more weapons than the first 2. The plot from the previews looks and sounds quite a bit like RE3...with some weird Alice person just...popping up somewhere to ruin any plot...but whatever, you don't expect movies like this to really have plot anyway.

It is, this is true. It also had the best weapon selection of any of the games. RE0 is more boring than Horror or Action, it's a bit long and not much happens. REmake is pure horror at it's best.

Same here. Seeing it tomorrow.
That said, i'll go and see it, no matter how **** it is, much like Aliens vs Predator. Just because i love the games. I'm European though so it'll be a while :\
Good action entertainment!!! I'm interested to hear the community's thoughts on the movie though so GO SEE IT!
I also have this tendency to like various crappy films/games/music despite popular opinion, so I'll probably see RE2 today, unless we suddenly decide we want a movie with substance.

um no its book 5 lol b/c I own all of them and im looking at them now.
Book 1: The Umbrella Conspiracy
STARS team in the mansion
Book 2: Caliban Cove
About a Second Umbrella Corp. "leak" near Maine. happens between RE game 1 and 2
Book 3: City of the Dead
Basically the RE2 the game.
Book 4: Underworld
Some of the survivors of RE2 the game from book 2 and the others from Book 1 (game 1) and from the Caliban cove disaster link up and infiltrate into an Umbrella Lab complex in Utah.
Book 5: Nemisis: Happens around the same time as book 4. The other survivors who are still trapped in Raccon city including Carlos Oliveria, and Jill meet up. They then try to get out of the city.
Book 6: Code: Veronica
Sort of like tha game. Chris, Clair and Steve and Weskers all come together.
Talks about some of Umbrellas really deep past. And goes further into detail of what happened to Albert Wesker.
All of these books give greater background info etc thta was not presented in the games.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but the games came before the book. The film isn't based on the "Nemesis" book, nor is it based on Resident Evil 3. It takes a few elements of the RE universe and messes them up horribly.
Also, all the background information that SD Perry writes about in her novels isn't official RE canon, so you can (thankfully) ignore them in regards to the RE universe.
I hate movies that do that, gun n00bs <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
My favorite resident evil was re:3, Was pretty simple, and plenty of diffrent combinations to try so i ended up playing it over and over and over again <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
RE3 was cool because of the 'Life Choicse" (...I think they're actually called 'Live Choices" in the manual <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> ). They added a cool variety to the game...along with the fact you don't have to go in everysingle room to get something...and it could be different every time because of it (with important plot points remaining the same).
RE2 was cool because of the weapons...it's hard to play twice, because the police station ends up as dreary marchs back and forth (and the game is ~3:00:00 playing normally, and that's 1:45:00 in the station). Love me that giant rocket launcher...oh and, going through without saving = "please don't die, I don't want to go through the police station again! [but the gatling gun rocks].
RE1 rocked because of the bosses. They're not dull and uninteresting and repetitive "Hey, this dude takes more hits to kill than your last boss, so he's a next level boss!", the only game that seems to be on par with it would be Ninja Gaiden (Xbox version)...MGS sortof does it, but that's quite similar in some spots.
The RE movie...sucks - if you take it as part of the RE universe. As its own movie it's quite a bit better; like an action-horror film. The next movie does seem like it's copying quite a bit from RE3 at least, hopefully they've either copied very little, or very much.
So this might... <i>might</i> be a rental for me.
The fans.
Scariest one was the first Resident Evil.

Do you mean the first RE also including the redone GC version?
What makes the REmake even scarier is playing through the first one, and expecting certain things to jump out that NEVER HAPPEN in the game. But the REmake was very atmospheric, and when I first got into the woods area, it was like midnight, there was a full moon outside and it was kinda foggy9In reality). I heard the ambience sounds there and just turned it off, shaking my head saying 'I"ll pick it up in the morning." As for the most action oriented RE games, I have to say that Code Veronica X was really. Of course, people play the games in different ways. But I do have to say one thing, if they make anymore RE games not like RE4 will be, they better have the knife be like it was in Veronica. It was actually useful, for once!

Go away please, they're great games. A little bit dated by now, but when they came out, they were very original, athmospheric, great storyline, and decent gameplay. Ok, there's a bit of lacking in the gameplay department, but doom3? Please. Not even halfway as good and scary as people make it out to be. "ok right im here, alcove ahead of me, so i gotta walk past, ah heres the guy in front of me. right lemme turn back cos guy spawned behind me as well. oh and lets keep walking all day not sure of what we're trying to accomplish except ban the evil demons by shooting them".

I loved Code Veronica. N' I loved knifing them zombies n' zombie dogs. I saved up to like 500+ just plain bullets by knifing my way throught the game. <333
Did ya notice the scene where Alice did that whole surrender, drop gun, catch gun, then shoot manuever. Ahh, that was totally from the intro to Code Veronica.
Hmm.. I'm a RE fan myself, but it's not like I would recommend NOT seeing this movie. It was like what has been said, entertaining. And I dunno why anybody would expect a movie to be 'just like the game, book, or comic' because it's not going to! lol c'mon!
Fun movie imo; Action packed and plenty o' mystery to go around.
