I've just been looking through the bug tracker and i've found this bug

    Wow, it would sure kick **** if the aliens' "flashlight" functioned in a useful way. The current model is 100% crap.

    I agree. The only 2 uses for it now are:

    1-JP'er in a hive room such as co_core, so that you can see him through the hive.
    2-AvA, but few servers have it.

    i use it quite often when im looking for the motion chamber in a hive, just pop it on and i can see the buildings much better.

    I only use it when gorges put some chambers in a dark vent and I can't see them.

    I think I heard they're going to make the alien flashlight make the marines glow much like the aliens when you have it on.     does enhanced sight ring a bell? doing that used to be a kick **** sensory upgrade, if it were just added it would make it somewhat unbalanced imo

    Alien flashlight does need something, it frustrates me when im in a vent and can't find my way out because it's a new map to me and too dark. It's almost awkward since you'd think aliens have the advantage in the dark. Nothin to do but wait and see what they do I suppose, or head to the ideas forum and toss your marbles out on the table.

    Maybe it could be added in one of the sensory upgrades or show marines only when they are around sensory chambers. That way, it won't nearly be as game changing, but help boost sensory :|

    Really ns is dark(Didn't they make all maps bright after beta 4a?)? For me it's pretty bright. No dark spots at all.

    The old Enhanced Sight upgrade (not Advanced Hive Sight, as some call it) was really quite powerful. It didn't get a whole lot of use, though, simply because of the crapulence of Sensory Chambers pre-2.0. Although I agree that the upgrade would be too hard to re-implement, the effect should be possible to attain somehow. However, it is too powerful to be available for free. It would, therefore, have to be attached to something else. I don't think that Scent of Fear is the answer. Any other ideas?

    Because the maps are no longer dark.

    i still remember the alien flashlight in AVP2(the game)
    they should implement that flashlight, it made everything bright and rotate in a bright spiral, and make marines have a blue glow around them, so you can see them more clearly
    i would sooooooooo use this when it would be used in NS

I'm sure this has already been reported, but it's been this way since I first registered.

    Enhanced Sight (<i>not</i> "Advanced Hive Sight") was nothing like Scent of Fear. For one thing, it had absolutely nothing to do with Hive Sight.

    Scent of Fear is not a solution to the lack of Enhanced Sight. The effect needs to be usable. The question is: How?

    Its a simple suggestion he said IF they plan to change it, meaning if any good idea came up to replace the flashlight they'd have to comback to that problem.

    It doesn't mean they are changing the flashlight NOW!

    Well I have always thought that Aliens have great eye sight, like cats do so they can see very clearly in dark. This would only be realistic and it wouldnt help that much that you could think...

    I always imaged it would be cool if the aliens could have a negative color sight sorta like in AVP or even better, like the predator vision. You can see buildings through walls but you lose all sight of marines or vice versa.

    Everything in here 'heard of' as authentic plan of the devs was quite new to me. we are aware of the issues with the alien flashlight, but no solution has been decided upon so far.
