Because we all know a company that has done special effects for 8 movies, and on some of them didn't do all of the special effects, is much better than a company that has been doing the best special effects in the business since 1977 and has won 14 Oscars out of many more nominations. If I want a movie to have good cg effects, I want it to be from ILM. Not like Weta is horrible or anything.
Cue teenybopper version of the TF theme, performed by Busted, followed by instantly forgettable and hopelessly unTransformerlike quotes such as "lets Transformerise".
Still, if anything, life has taught me that we should make our childhoods as fun and rich as possible, because in 2 decades some suit is going to bend it over and give it an intensive colonic irrigation.
Alternatively you could become rich and buy the rights to all your favorite childhoold memories. Then screw them up yourself <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Indeed.
And it will suck even more unless it is Gen1 Transformers.
Starcom, for instance. All motorised, no batteries. Centurions, with their Power Xtreme skills and interchangeable parts.
And then look what we HAVE had resurrected......... Battlestar Galactica, Starsky & Hutch, Thunderbirds.
Just because a film idea was crap on its own doesn't mean its going to be improved by sticking a trusted name on the front of it. Its like they've being going through a list of poorly conceived films, realising they wouldn't sell, and then going out and buying the rights to a property and cut/paste what you need.

Criminal.
It should be G1. G1, damnit!
A-FRICKIN-MEN. <!--emo&::marine::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/marine.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='marine.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::marine::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/marine.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='marine.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::marine::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/marine.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='marine.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I mean come on, who didn't have nightmares after seeing Unicron waste the first planet? Mm, inevitability, and a big killer planet you couldn't escape from. Important lessons to any child.
Even though it'll probably suck still.
I don't mind crap stuff being brought up and being re-done. If it becomes good, then...great. Otherwise, it's no big deal. Thunderbirds is and always will be pantastic.
It's when they resurrect He-Man and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and pantify them that I get angry.
should I rent the original movie or whatever, or do I have to know all about the series to 'get' the movie?
