Go rent the original movie.

Keep in mind that it's from the mid-80s and aimed at 8- to 12-year-olds, and it kicks unholy amounts of booty. (:

Off-Topic While On The Subject Of Movies That Should Or Should Not Be:

Unreal Tournament The Movie, anyone? If they were really careful with CGI and what actors they put in, that would probably be awesome.

Meh, just watch Running Man and pretend it's somehow taking place in the UT universe.

I'm, obviously, a rather large transformers fan. I was excited up until I realized that it was going to contain a rather large human element, and that human element was going to be children, or at very least teenagers. All the series have them, to some extent, and lately they've been getting more and more annoying. My memories of G1 aren't that great anymore, but I don't remember the humans in that one being as annoying as the group in Armada, or *shudder* Energon.

I'm sure they've have to do some redesigns too. Having Soundwave and Megatron change size so drastically won't fly on screen. Hopefully they'll go with the tank version of Megatron. As long as Prime is still a semi I'll go see it.

Urg, tank Megatron.

Besides, there's a perfectly good excuse for where all the extra mass goes.

As obviously, giant 50 foot robots are believable.
• FrikkFrikk Join Date: 2002-11-01 Member: 3164Members, Constellation
Well, hey. It's believable to have mutants with powers like ultra fast healing and laser beam eyes, but not to have them wear spandex?
I'm just saying that some things aren't going to fly onscreen that do in comics or in the TV show.

I've been pretty busy for the most part. Going back to school I impossed a 0 gaming clause on myself which worked out pretty well. And summer has been decently crazy as well. I'll probably start playing NS with the next update or something. Who knows. I've been everyonce in a while just lurking the forums, keeping up with the news and such. Nice to be remembered though .

yea I saw the trailers the other day - it's going to suck.

I hate shia labeouf.

The CG looks great, although the flames on optimus look weak. I just seriously doubt that they have a good plot to go along with the awesomeness of the robots.
• OmegamanOmegaman Join Date: 2004-01-11 Member: 25239Members
Instead of being a movie very faithful to the cartoons and such, they've based it off the cartoons and such, and I suspect they taking the plot/scenario in a different direction to give the movie meaning--that is, the plot will focus on such themes as "Man vs Machine" and "Man getting along with Machine" and such. I'm going to keep the faith and say this movie has a fair chance at being good. Not what fans have been expecting, but good.

What the hell? This is worse than I thought in the beginning.
1. All the Robots look like they emerged from car compactor.
2. And now it's X-Men rip-off, fighting for the people that fear them...
3. Looking at the trailer, I doubt any of the transformer will have much lines now. Look like the brat and his girlfriend will be the main plot. Michael Bay, now missing the point the same way he did in Pearl Harbor.

I didn't really have much interest in the movie until the latest trailer, simply because I'm not an original Transformers fan (though I did get coerced into watching the animated movie); now I at least have awesome robot vs robot battles to look forward to, and screw the plot.

That and watching Starscream turn into an F22 just had "LIVE ACTION MACROSS" screaming through my mind.

Back when 8 to 12 year olds were into power ballads and maroon/pink/purple, apparently.

The movie looks like a good action flick, but the robots themselves are way to stylized for my tastes.

Such negativity. Sometimes I wonder if the so called "fans" are actually fans or just nostalgic pessimistic geeks who think anything sucks if it's not 100% like the original.

I'll take C. All of the above please Bob.

There's just some things that shouldn't be messed with from the original. If you want to make a film about transforming robots that isn't Transformers, don't call it Transformers. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />

I dunno X_5. Think of it more like this... with the help of fun metaphors!!! :D

Let's say Transformers belong to the genre 'Giant Transforming Robot Movies'. Let's also agree that Gouda is a 'cheese'.

Let's now imagine you go to a shop and buy some Gouda but when you open the package it's actually Edam. Sure, it's a cheese and it's even the same sort of colour but it's not what you bought.

Applying this to transformers, you're going in for Transformers... what we might be getting is infact Gobots with the characters renamed. Sure it's a Giant Transforming Robot thing and the characters might be familiar but it's not Transformers :p

Either way, I think there's some right to be irked by it.

Regardless though, we'll have to see how it goes. Film's not out yet XD

As long as these transformers are indeed "more than meets the eye", and at some point are "robots in disguise", I don't think I'll care too much.

If I want the originals, I'll go and watch the originals. Even if they make Optimus Prime in to some kind of rapist in the movie, it's not like this is gonna go back in time and change the original series.

That first one was awesome, it's great that it starts falling off the edge at the end.
