<div class="IPBDescription">Can't I play NS on CS:CZ?</div> I'm wondering if I could just buy counter-strike: condition zero to play NS because I want that game and NS as well. Half-Life to me is overplayed, since I beat it 10 times and since CS:CZ and HL both use steam, I'm wondering if NS is possible with just CS:CZ.

I'm not 100% certain, but it makes sense. HL2 will be using Steam, and you won't be able to use HL1 mods with that.
EDIT: After doing a little search, there seems to be some possibility of using a CS:CZ key to download HL via Steam, but it's 4am and i really can't be bothered to do much searching, so once again, i'm not 100% sure.
You'll have to buy HL seperate to play NS. I would recommend going to your local EB (or EB like store) and picking up Half Life. You can usually find it for around $10. Get the key and put that into Steam.
Not necessarily, a CZ key won't cut it.
But any other key will work. (Except for Opposing Force)
Unless CZ comes with Half-Life, you won't be able to play NS.
And as far as I know, CZ dosn't come with Half-Life.
(Plz correct me if I'm wrong <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo--> )
Install steam and start an account using your CS key.
Now download HL as free available content.
Run HL so that it creates a HL folder from the cache file.
Install NS into the HL folder.
Play NS.
where's the problem? Try to play NS with CZ, and if it doesn't work you'll have to get HL.
But you do need Half-Life to play Half-Life and it's mods.

I had CS retail and I could play all the Mods just as if I had Half Life, but I had to change the directory though. I think I'll buy and experiment.
I doubt it would work with only CZ, but you could give it a try.
(NS installs into the HL folder, so unless CZ comes with HL it wont work)
aah! i think no on that Satertek,
when you get your steam account, i beleve there is an option to change your email, so you can sell your game as a multiplayer as well as long as you give the person your pw so he can change his pw and email!
back on topic, i think, once you get steam, you can get hl, and with hl, you can get NS, thus, bringing joy to ppl like me and you!
But you do need Half-Life to play Half-Life and it's mods. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
you don't need half life with steam
1.) To play Natural Selection you will need Steam and the downloaded HL Singleplayer. Steam alone is not a game engine!
2.) You can use a Counter-Strike retail version key or an original HL key with Steam to download the listed games.
Valve doesn't give HL away for free! Buy a CD key!
3.) (CS Retail is not Condition Zero. It's the older normal CS sold seperatedly. It's using the old HL key system because it's running on the same engine. Condition Zeros engine is different to the HL engine and is using a different key system. The Steam platform is engine independent and can run different games with different engines.)
4.)You can not use a Counter-Strike Condition Zero key to play Natural Selection online.
5.)You can use Condition Zeros Steam ro play NS (point 3), but you will need a Half-Life or Counter-Strike retail key to download the HL singleplayer that is required to run Natural Selection.

from the ns download page
1. Download and install Steam ("Half-life Steam Installer" recommended, 211 megabytes).
2. Run Half-life through Steam at least once, by loading up the training course. This is necessary to make sure NS will have the files it needs.
Here are the set of instructions.
1. Acquire the nsp folder using Steam or downloading it from a NS community website.
2. Copy it into Condition Zero folder (ex: C:\Valve\Condition Zero)
3. Create a shortcut from the Condition Zero launcher executable (czero.exe) to desktop.
4. Right-click on the shortcut on the desktop, select properties and add the following after the link:
--------------------
-game nsp
-------------------
5. Click on the link to start.
6. To join LAN games press ~ to bring up the console and type 'slist' (without apprivations) and type 'connect [number of server on the slist].
See guys, its possible
2) Start a Steam account with the CS1.6 key, then download HL as available content through Steam.
3) Then install NS.
It's really that simple.

Also a great place to sell half-life after you've registered ur cdkey with steam.
