A question which is answered the same way regardless of the truth is pointless. It's not like you are going to figure out if I'm lying when you can't hear my voice or see my face and don't even know anything about me other than what you have been told in game. Unless I contradict myself in a very conspicous way there is little to suggest that I am lying or telling the truth, all you have is your suspicions.

Cheaters and regular players play differently, what cheaters don't do is more telling IMO than what they do. Not looking in those obvious ambush spots for no apparent reason(MT or lack of skulk claw noise is an apparent reason for not looking if it is consistent) most of the time and then finding skulks in obscure points without getting any clues is a good give away if it happens a few times. A player suddenly playing like total crap while you happen to be spectating is also a good giveaway. A player that just happens to be afk and aiming at passing by aliens is super duper obvious(I've actually seen this, it was hilarious). A player speedhacking is mostly obvious, especially when a regular player and a speed botter trying to be subtle are both doing the same thing(e.g. knifing an RT). Aimbotting is quite obvious even if they have a descent aimbot because in NS there is no recoil, they will track their target allmost perfectly with very few shots missing at all ranges, it looks very funky inhumane. Unless the target is moving in a very intuitive manner humans cannot possibly do that consistently with a small and quick target.

So then you know that they can apply the mode which auto aims only when you see an enemy. And it looks verry realistic when you would spectate them.

Maybe servers should have some sort of auto-ban on the text "lol". If that doesn't clear the hackers out, nothing will.

And joda, you are way too paranoid about cheats. They are extremely rare, in my time of playing NS i've only ever seen a small handfull of hackers, all of whom have been swiftly banned by competant admins because of the fact that they're cheating, not because they said "lol".

I think you just have to face it, you're not that good at NS. I just watched someone go 48:4 one round, 23:2 the next, and so on. He was a good player, simple as that.

    lol

No, because this isn't true, aimbots do not look realistic because when they autoaim the track the player allmost perfectly, it looks very funky(when in spec, look at blood decals to determine hits as what you see the player doing may lag behind what is actually happening on his screen). If they play like total newbies when you spectate them you watch them some more, and if they still play like newbies watch them some more. If someone who consistenly played very good is now playing consistenly bad and doing mistakes only a newbie would, what does that tell you? Or, if they still cheat what does that tell you?

Aimbots are easy to spot as long as there is no recoil, because they with no exception that I am aware of track you allmost perfectly, they might not snap their view directly onto you and players might not use them all the time but when the aimbot is in use and you are spectating it is painfully obvious. ESP or wallhacks are much much worse cheats than aimbots simply because they are not easy to detect, it takes someone who is dedicatedly spectating that person the whole time. Preferably watching a demo of it again with a wallhack to see what the player might have seen and what the reaction was when a player poped into the wallhacks view etc.

Hmm, if the answer to the question is dumb, then logically speaking, wouldn't the question that produced the dumb answer be inherently dumb as well?

As far as psychology goes, broad generalizations from personal experiences is not psychology. Psychology is scientific study of human behavior, and usually very specific.

23-2 really isn't exactly shocking. I've seen blatant cheaters on the other hand (like the guy that would speedhack structures to death when noone was watching) that barely manage to be last on the killscore. The top of the scoreboard isn't the most likely place for someone trying to cheat undetected.

Well, the only variable in the context is what "dumb" is. So as long as dumb is still considered dumb, then yes, it is consistent.

What I find so hard to believe is that so many players can't believe that a player (especially marine or a fade) can actually be good without hacking. You realise a marine could take out 5 or so skulks rushing him or take out an equal group of marines by having a good aim and a simple understanding of dodging/the maps?

A good player will know the most likely places for the opposing team to be on the map and where they will be hiding there all the way up to about 6 or so minutes, depending how fast they have teched and where the hives are.

The game almost runs on rails and with some basic understanding it isn't hard to abuse it. What you think is your super hiding spot actually turns into the place that every other skulk hides. I wonder where a marine will check first?!

    p.s. lol

Ok i see some people didn't get the right message.
My goal was not trying to convince you that the word "lol" itself is bad and should be connected with cheat activity, i was just making some of my observations public.
    [hint]This is not a dead serious thread[/hint]

So in a nutshell, I do not care if some player is better than me, and i know that you guys can kick my A** (yeah whatever <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo--> ).
I don't hate people who use lol, i am an lol addict.
I found it just quite interesting how some people i really think they cheat react and how others who i don't think they cheat do.

For the bunch who don't scent humor even if it bites your legs off:

No what I meant was if the answers you are getting are consistently dumb no matter who you ask then yes the question is dumb. You can ask a sensible question and get a dumb answer or non-answer(e.g. "because...") from someone.
