<div class="IPBDescription">Now with all Commander build commands!</div> Okay, with the release of Cheeseh's bot (THANK YOU), I was able to continue my trial and error testing procedure with the build buttons. Half an hour later, I have all of the commands for the Commander's build menu mapped out, including the switch-to-menu buttons, and every building, ammo, health, weapon, etc. therein.
Once again, same url, slightly different file:
**see below**
If you get it and find it useful, feedback is much appreciated <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Also, there are still a few buttons unmapped -- namely, the "research" buttons (upgrade armor/research jetpacks, etc.). I COULD find them, but it'd take a long time, and, frankly, if you're lazy enough to not click ONE button every few minutes, you're pretty sad <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
Glad to help out the NS community (and make for some faster commanders, too. I have a feeling that after this next patch, they'll need it <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->).

Edit: the NS-impulselist now has all of the in-game weapons names, just in case anybody wanted them

-Rabid <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo-->

EDIT:
Okay, my IIS is having... issues, so I got my good friend Foxdie to host it for me. Everybody be sure to thank him for me <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Anyway, the file is now a .zip which contains my list of commands (NS-impulselist), along with my commander bind scripts, cheats.txt and ded-vars.txt (which both come with NS, but might as well have them all in one place), and an autoexec.cfg that makes the console open instantly and runs the commander.cfg file
Here ya go:<a href='http://www.jasongaunt.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/rabid-ns-files.zip' target='_blank'>http://www.jasongaunt.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk...id-ns-files.zip</a>

Edit 2: heh, wow, we got another mirror. Kinda silly for a .zip full of .txt files, but okay <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
<a href='http://65.215.220.60/~foxdie/rabid-ns-files.zip' target='_blank'>http://65.215.220.60/~foxdie/rabid-ns-files.zip </a>

Edit 3: well, my server just randomly started working again, so:
For the command list: <a href='http://home.swbell.net/houston8/NS-impulselist.txt' target='_blank'>http://home.swbell.net/houston8/NS-impulselist.txt</a>
And for the commander binds: <a href='http://home.swbell.net/houston8/commander.cfg' target='_blank'>http://home.swbell.net/houston8/commander.cfg</a>

<a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=1&t=9160&st=0' target='_blank'>Some instructions (my original post on the subject) in the off chance anybody has any problems with it)</a>

Enjoy <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    last bump I SWEAR ^^;
    c'mon, if you find this useful, say so. I've had 250-odd "visitors" to my webserver, and they've all been there for the command list, and I have to bump my own thread twice to keep it active? <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Heh. You could have figured some of those things out a bit easier using the kb_act.list in the ns/gfx/shell folder. But good work anyhoo.

    Heh, wow, that ALMOST made me feel dumb. I went and checked it out, but it's just the bind menu keys -- it's missing a bunch, and even has one that's wrong (it has a bind for NUKE. Now THAT would be unbalancing <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo--> )
    Mine has a few more commands for the commander, and all of the otherwise undocumented voice commands too.
    Thanks for pointing that out, though. Would have made my job *easier* at least <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    That's a great list...
    However I can't seem to get any of the "hotkey" commands working.
    I get an invalid command error message every time.

    Any idea why this is?

    Well, the game says that if you're not actually sitting in the commander's chair and try to use them. Also, the commands seem to *have* to be bound to work. Just typing hotkey88 in console does nothing, but binding it to a key and hitting the key works just fine. I'll add that to the file, I probably should have in the first place.
    If it STILL doesn't work, tell me, as I haven't actually been able to test these in an internet game yet (though there's no reason that they shouldn't work, as they worked flawlessly in a LAN game)

    Hey, just thought of something. This can be used to make a popup menu, displayed with the scr_connectmsg, scr_connectmsg2, scr_connectmsg3 commands, i.e. you press the popup menu key, it displays options for build, Advanced Build, Equipment, then you select the sub category, then it can display options for each item in the scr_connectmsg box.

    If someone else doesn't want to do it, I will. I think it would be useful to be able to hit, say, two or three keys to do something instead of clicking through or binding every single command to something.

    Edit: done, except for the commander options. <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=1&t=9230' target='_blank'>http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/in...t=ST&f=1&t=9230</a>

    It seems they don't work with alias either...
    At least I now know why they aren't working <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Now I have to figure out how to sucessfully use one bind to execute two commands.
    It seems NS crashed with more than 3 "wait" commands.
    I can't think of any other way of doing it.

    Ideas anyone?

    Bump.

    Anyone actually done what I'm trying to achieve?
  • RueRue Join Date: 2002-10-21 Member: 1564Members
    nooooooooo , this makes it much much easier to be the commander and take away the frantic search for the buildings and the weapons to drop i think u should just use the normal way cause if the NS team wanted to make it possible to bind the buildings they would have made it so and not spent time making the option menus.

    i play commander alot now and i realy enjoy the pressure your under and the level of intelegence(sp) u need to show when ur commanding the other guys but this will make it a fair bit easier to be the commander if everthing is bindable. dont think many people will agree with me but hey what the hell

    Thanks, I was just about to start work on my comms script and this'll be a help (I could have coped without it but I can use an impulse with a message.

    BTW, there was a nuke, there may still be one in a later version. It was a buildable structure for the marines that, once finished, would... well it would explode <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Oh, how did you get it to play in a lan game? I want to practice flying etc in a game where I wont be A) wasting a slot and B)reducing my teams effectiveness but with only one person the game wont start <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->.

    To start a LAN game: go into console when NS starts, and type sv_lan 1. Then just type "map ns_mapname" (pick a map <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->) and you're off.
    And in response to Rue, about how they made the menu for a reason: I thought about that too, but they made about half of the commander keys bindable from the front end menu in the first place. So I figure they don't mind the commander keys being assigned to keys.
    And do aliases not work? rats <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo--> I'll HAVE to play with that and see if I can get it working

    Ok, first. If you are going to use the word intelligent, have the intelligence to go to dictionary.com <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Second, with the new patch the marines will be under a lot more pressure. They can't rely on turret farms, ect. I think making it more like a real RTS with hotkeys et all will only help.

    This should make some commanders have more free time to watch his or her troops if they need any medpacks or ammo. Because when I'm a commader I usually have my attenetion pulled in three different ways and I start to lose my cool.

    LOL, a long way back when, there existed a nuke weapon for the marines. It was a placeable structure, and the marines would have to build it to arm it, and after a set delay, it would go off, destroying any buildings and players in a set radius, hives included.

    I believe it was taken out as it was two powerfull, and the seige cannon replaced it.

    BTW, thanki sai, these well be most usefull.

    Mini-nukes may come back one day. The MN didn't have a very large blast radius, and wasn't strong enough to kill a hive in one shot. The main problem with MNs was spamming, a commander would buy nothing at all for his team for the whole game then drop 6 nukes at once into each hive room.

    I hope Planet NS hosts this bind list, it's usefull stuff anmd i'd hate to see it lost in the forum.
