Ns_rust Is Finished!

<div class="IPBDescription">Take a look new layout and pics :)</div> The reason I started a new thread for this Version is because its been almost completely remade about 50%. Through months of play testing with clan #cri and Forlorn leading the PT we have finally come up with a version we really like. The map is significantly smaller as you can see below. We tried to make it as simple as possible yet still somewhat complex. This is where the vent system comes in, it's truly elaborate like a large web that unifies the map into something quit fun. Most of the vents are underneath the map so there not visible in the minimap. I didn't highlight the vents in the minimap because i want the first time player to discover them on there own.

It was a cold and dreary evening when the ore surveyors first came across the ill fated ship Metropolis. The Metropolis unknown to the surveyors had been infested by the Krahaa days before and was forced to crash land on the planet that it now rests. The surveyors were on a routine Ore exploration to fine new sources of precious Nanite ore that fuels the largest power generator in the X-9 system Power Facility Rust. If this Facility were to have a nanite meltdown the entire X-9 solar system which is comprised of 36 planets, 30 are inhabited with over a trillion people in all would implode and create a new sun killing everyone in the process.
The TSA received a distress message informing them that the power facility Rust was compromised by creatures described as demons from hell and that all hope was lost for the work force and there families. It is not known how these foul beasts managed to compromise such a fortified facility, but the TSA suspects that the surveyors were killed when they entered the ship to investigate. Then the species known as the Gorge somehow disguise himself as one of the crew and returned in the surveyor scout ship and bluffed his way in. -end of report <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I noticed a post by Delarosa a couple days ago talking about a bunch of new maps being play tested in the next month or so. I was wondering how i would go about getting this one included, if someone could help me get in touch with the right people that would be great.

People don't seem to understand why this map has so much promise; I worked with moose on this map for a long time, instructing him on making a map that is nice LAYOUT wise, as currently only about 2 - 3 maps right now have excellent layout, and have a good vent system.
As a result of poor layout, you have maps that can be frustrating for both sides;
including area's that are too big for marines to cover effectively, and hallways that are death traps for skulks and aliens, you need area's that are always capable for both sides to use and take advantage of.
Anyhow, the pics.
First up, the incredibly cool generator room. This room may look like it's fun for JP's, but in actuality the entire map is very easy to fly around in a JP with. Tons of JP fun.
It may look a bit bright, but that's just my settings. Looks atmosperheric no matter your settings, in my oppinion.
This one is in a hive room.
Reminding me of bast, lost & nothing with the texture is a very good thing. Although I can't help wonder what the map would be like with that top left quarter still in there, makes me sad that it is much smaller now. Ah well, the level-designer is always right <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo--> I hope you do get a PT from the NS Devs though, looking pretty good, although I do feel you should put some a blue glow or flicker by the power core to add more atmosphere aswell.
[edit @ 10:55 (ish) GMT ] After looking at Forlons teaser shots more closely the map does look a little bit bland in lighting, consider and invest in some stronger contrasting (Red/Green as example) lighting around the map. Although I'm on a stupidly dark e-machines monitor (can't fix it as far as I know =/) so it might just be this monitor, but there is some of my advice <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
