    This map is absolutely superb, that's my verdict after having a look around. It would be a crime if this wasn't made official.

    Only bad points were that you've mishandled the file structure of the .zip (it shouldn't have that ns_rust folder containing maps, sprites etc., they should exist on their own so people can unzip it correctly without hassle) and a slight grammar error: it should be "Devil's" not "Devil" on one of the info_locations.

    anyone else think a vent leading from the top hive to the left hive would be a good idea, would it affect the balance of the map to much?

    I loaded the map up and i am impressed. I think it invites some interesting gameplay and the vents are, like Forlorn said, really cool.

    Here are some screenies i took:

    Throughout all of the map r_speeds were also very very good. Here's an overview shot I took:

    Tequila thanks for bringing that to my attention. Ill fix it in the next build <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Some major changes are going to be implemented in the next build (Good ideas Forlorn, Magitek thanks.) mind you this is a test build.

    The 2 elevators leading to cesspool are going to be replaced with ramps just to see if it flows better. plus more vents in that area

    That Annoying Kid

    I might throw that vent in as a weldable and see how it works, but without the weldable it would must likely be abused.

    Thanks for the feedback everyone <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    it looks like an excellent map, and i have not played it, but a very brightly lighted map, which is very unlike the NS maps that now come with NS. dark maps are an aliens friend, and light ones are a marines friend. though i haven't played it, maybe some dark areas for skulks etc to hide would be useful, everything seems VERY visible.

    hope to play soon.+

    After some playtesting of it I found some somewhat issues that you might want to adress.

    1) The north hive (cesspool) only has one exit route and that is somewhat closer to marine start. The problem being that in order to get the center hall is that this is the only route. A simple turret farm or camp will simply leave the alien team with nothing to do about it.

    2) You can seige "Nano Regulation" from marine start, not good for aliens. However, this can be fix by just moving the node a little, maybe into the top-right corner.

    3) Cesspool's node placement. A marine team can shoot down the node from both entrances. This is a common problem for ns_eclipse's Computer Core node. You should move it to another point, or make the hive room a little bigger and move it around.

  • Invader_ScootInvader_Scoot Join Date: 2003-10-13 Member: 21669Members, Constellation, Reinforced - Shadow
    The download link currently cannot be posted because the map is to be playtested and changed up a little bit before it is released. And about that guy saying that the map is bright, you're definitely wrong. The guy who took those pictures must've cranked up his gamma or something because it's not nearly that bright.

    This is true. He must have like lightgamma 4 on or something. The map was about the same darkness as most maps. (I am hinting to more of a mineshaft if anything though)

    I used the word "finished" to draw attention to the post <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo--> and to express my excitement of how far the map has come.

    Nothing is really ever Finished is it? I mean the artist or however might lose interest in the work, but that doesn't mean the work itself is Finished does it? I think not. Look at Ns_bast, Relic25 either lost interest in his map or NS im not surw which one, but i do know that bast has been remade and still lives <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Exoity thanks for the constructive feed back!

    Nano Regulation siege problem has been fixed (rebuilt it).

    That is a pretty bad chock point and i have a solution take a look below.

    <img src='http://members.cox.net/pavement1/ns_rustlay.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

    The green dot indicates the chock point just so people know what your talking about. The orange box shows where the new ramp is going to be. From mainframe to turbine room.

    peace

    Thing is, cesspool is more of a describing word in day to day life "that place is a cesspool", and you are trying to use it as a noun to name a place... it just doesn't sound right or fit the NS theme if you ask me <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Not only that, but he is using it a noun in that very sentance. 'Red' is a discribing word (read adjective), I have never heard someone say "that place is a red". A sentance that starts with "that place is a" must logically follow into a noun, the word 'a' implys an object that can be counted, and only nouns can exist as objects that can be counted.
