Anyone ever had a hot pursuit with a onos who DIDNT use paralyze
I remember on a certain map which has the longest ladder in ns that onos had been chasing me for 5 minutes chuckling every few seconds the comm was plain laughing at me and he said keep running <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Then i just jumped got pulled up and saw a lerk,....lerk lift sexy. it was the same lerk who was in my clan.
then i was dumped on top of a small ledge where only expert skulks and l33t fades can get and i just kept shooting the onos while it was running.
I remember mine i was a marine on co_faceoff, and i was level 5 and i took cat packs with all those ups ^_^ (pwnt)
then this big cow thing with udders came round the corner so i shouted down voice comm "AHHHH **** THE COW JUST EAT SOMEONE" busted out my knife and went slashing it.
First time I remember seeing onos is when I was playing one of my first games, on ns_hera. I followed a guy to entrance and reception and we heard the aliens around the corner in the hall. I see the guy I follow go that way and hear the aliens fighting him and I'm too scared to follow. So I stayed there and he died, and then I died when a fade started shooting acid rockets at me...
I respawn and now the aliens are in the one vent (that had a breakable grill) and shooting spores and acid rockets out. I die, and then while looking through spectate some onos run in and kill everyone and destroy our base...

I was actually one of the first Oni on the internet. The Onos was one of the last additions in the pre-1.0 PTs. In the build it was implemented in, I somehow managed to overcome the stacking and play aliens on the first game. When I had amassed enough res, I evolved - who wouldn't have? It was incredible. The Onos was bugged, half its weapons weren't implemented yet, but somehow, they didn't have to be. The sheer sensation of being so big that you literally filled corridors (many maps experienced last-minute changes to literally fit the Onos in), and the look of marines literally running away from you, searching for cover, were priceless. My favorite Onos-related experience dates however from the 2.0-playtests. The following voicecomm-quote sums it up best:

The first time I saw an onos was in my third game I think, I also think it was version 1.03 (I think a lot). My team is being assulted by lots of fades but we managed to drive them off using hmgs and gls. For a moment everything was still, then the door opened (was eclipse I think) and a marine who somehow had managed to get outside came running and screaming "WE ARE ALL GONNA DIE". And at the corner three four legged beasts came. The marine that came running was right...
the first time I saw an onos I thought "what the hell is that thing?" My very first game, i joined late when aliens had 2 hives. (ns_eclipse 1.03)
Comm was low on res, but dropped HA and GL for me, my first game too, lucky us.
I just camped in base and GL spammed, I remember the fades blinking around killing the only other HA. At that moment we were right outside base, I started bunny hopping back (who says nubs can't bunnyhop) and the onos ran right up behind me and gored me before I got through the door.
The rest of the game is mostly a blur, but we lost.
I was playing NS_bast walking around the right side of atmo, just coming around to the point where you could see the double res. Turned around and bam o.0 !!!! Scared me so bad I sh!t myself straight then and there, After being knocked into the wall and killed, I went afk several minutes as my deaths racked up b/c of telefrags; reason being, finding new boxers ^_^
I crapped myself more seeing a fade for the first time than I did seeing an Onos. <!--emo&::fade::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/fade.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='fade.gif' /><!--endemo-->
i think it was in my 4th game where marines had a horrible comm and even worse teamwork, basically everyone ran around asking for shotties or something and the comm didnt really do much besides turret farm the marine start, after about 10 minutes (what seemed like hours) of standing around, i see a fade blink in, i've seen them before, big deal, he dies in about 3 seconds from all the lmgs, a few lerks or skulks, the occasional suicide-gorge-idiot-kamikaze and lots of xenociding, after another 10 minutes, an onos, the first one ever, i was thinking "WTH IS THAT GG" basically, he kills about half my team and i jump in the vent (this was on ns_nothing) and go to the other end which was welded closed so i just wait for the skulks to come pouring in, 2 minutes later they find me and i died from multiple spore clouds
off-topic: my first game ever was on ns_nancy, we had no comm (at the end) but there was 1 hive left, i joined probably 30 mins into the game and it was almost over, it was kind of an odd setup, where we had most of the res towers, but there was a tf in marine start, a pg, the adv. armory, the arms lab and an obs, then in mess hall we had a tf, some sieges and turrets, the rt, and a proto lab, so you needed to go through the phase gate to get your HA or whatever, i hardly knew what was going on so i thought this was normal for an NS game, but i couldnt have been more wrong, i think the first weapon i picked up was an HMG, then a welder, then i used the by accidentally running into it i thought 'ok, that was wierd' i see something on the ground, i run to it, and my hands changed, and i see my armor at 290, so i see another guy in some wierd armor-type stuff and i follow him right to the last hive and we win shortly after that (mainly since there were sieges and stuff, this was before the 1.01 patch even so the sieges firing automatically)
it was on ns nothing i belive. i had just gotten ha and a hmg and i was like wow nothing can kill me. im god! then this big bloody cow comes around the corner and this weird white foamy thing comes out. next thing i know im giving the onos a free stomach inspection. i didnt know if i should laugh or wet my pants.
ok, this was definitely freaky. i played co_ulysses (cant spell it properly) and the game was becoming more like a standoff. i had HA + HMG, usually would hide in the corners & crouch. now the weird thing is that this onos comes running around the corner, hears me firing at him, then JUMPS on me. i swear, looking at the [nipples] on a onos is not fun, especially when he is goring you to death.
I think mine has to be hands-down THE best first encounter with an onos.

Anyway, the commander thought it would be a good idea to cap the node there (god knows why considering our situation), so I began building it. At this point I notice the whole marine team is dead, but I keep building anyway, since there was nothing much else I could do.
Then I see people saying "LOL" "OMG ROFL" e.t.c, and then someone says "Turn around Roadkill" (my ingame name).
I know it cant be good. I turn around and there it is.

I was playing an NS map. I didnt know what to do except shoot. Then out of nowhere this big thingy comes. I asked my allies why it never died and they said because aliens are cheap. But after a long term i learnt they aren't that hard to kill and they are not all that cheap.

First time I saw an Onos, I had an HMG and was sitting pretty in a little vent. All of a sudden everyone's going "Crap, Onos" over the comm and the next thing I see is this giant cow whacking a res node. I started shooting, but he turned around and came up to me.. so I'm backing into the vent and he's jumping, trying to devour.. and while this happens, a guy crouch-walks up behind the Onos. Next thing I know I'm in this giant red mess and five seconds later I'm standing on a corpse. Blessed are the shotgunners.
building a res tower, then someone said "LITTLE DUDE! GTFO! ONOS THERE" (my name has changed since then) when i looked up, i saw this big thing and thought "this is why im leaving? it IS kinda big. maybe if i walk away, it wont notice me" then i got killed by it.
good times... good times...

First time I saw one, was on the very first release of NS...as a marine obviously... I don't remember which map it was on, but I was together with a couple of other marines in a hallway, busy building a TF, when we saw over the teamchat another player saying "Onos!" By the time we'd gotten 2 or 3 turrets up and running, we suddenly stood face to face with that massive chunk of meat and a couple of skulks which came at us around the corner... We pretty much fired everything we had at them, managing to take down one skulk, but having LMG's only didn't really dent the onos...the TF was soon taken down by yet more skulks which arrived and when that happened...well...not much chance left...
Thing I love about those days is how the onos was the biggest fear of a marine...players would break lines when an oni was about to charge head-on, and if the lines were broken...well...then it's easy kills for the aliens...

I don't remember which map it was on, but I was together with a couple of other marines in a hallway, busy building a TF, when we saw over the teamchat another player saying "Onos!"
By the time we'd gotten 2 or 3 turrets up and running, we suddenly stood face to face with that massive chunk of meat and a couple of skulks which came at us around the corner...
We pretty much fired everything we had at them, managing to take down one skulk, but having LMG's only didn't really dent the onos...the TF was soon taken down by yet more skulks which arrived and when that happened...well...not much chance left...
Thing I love about those days is how the onos was the biggest fear of a marine...players would break lines when an oni was about to charge head-on, and if the lines were broken...well...then it's easy kills for the aliens...
Onos and epic 2h+ battles...good good memories...
