i think thats what got me hooked to ns, the first few times you play it the scary atmosphere just drags you in, i wish the ns team would make there maps even creapier to ad to the atmosphere

my first encounter with an onos was when I was a skulks and I thought I could run threw the dang things legs but I couldn't then some marines came and killed it cuz it got stuck by me. . .so my first encounter wasn't a very good one. . but ya know what can ya do

While I was downloading NS, I was reading the forums about NS battle stories, adn got me all thinking, "Wow, I wonder what the Onos looks like!"

Well, I had playing quite alot of games enough to be familiar witht he gameplay as a Marine, and I was aggravated that we were owning the Kharraa every time, adn I was never spotting and Onos. Boy did I get my wish...Next round I ended up meeting two , adn I was like, "Holy Crap!", and as I helplessly shot at them with my LMG, I was pwned by a Skulk from behind...

started playing in the december after it got released, then quit...and picked up back in 1.04 and figured out how the game worked, then the week 2.0 was released i met a cal-i ns player at a lan and now i play competitvely

how can you remember the first time you saw an onos?

only thing i remember, which is hilarious now, being a skulk and saying to yourself "omg i cant bite anyone, ima be a marine so i can get more kills", then going marine the next game and saying "omg now i cant shoot skulks and all i do is get bitten"

Was knifing the Generator hive on Caged. The next thing I see is the Onos head just barley pop into the sides of the hive gave me a heart attack, I even jumped. I continued to knife it because he couldn't get in or so I thought. Then he jumped in and I was like OMG NOOOO then he gored me.

My first encounter with an onos was in ns_nothing 1.0 something. Well I joined late but at that time aliens had all 3 hives. Then like 6 onoses come to marine start and boom killed us all. Well thats my first encounter. I heard that some guy's first encounters with an onos wasn't really like much of anything surprising. It was 3.0 beta 3 and like the 2nd day he is playing hes like lets chase the onos in voice com and I guess to him onoses was just another fat gorge.

First time I saw a onos i was like, "Oh yeah?" while firing my level 3 HMG... or was it a shotgun? Either way, i was soon impaled by the horn.

Lol, my first encounter with an onos?

I was an HA/HMG/Welder in a squad of 6, 2 HA/HMG/Welders, 3 HA/Shotty/Welders, and one HA/GL/Welder...


We were pwning all the skulks, gorges, and lerks they could throw at us... then 2 fades came by and got the GL (I nearly shat my pants when they like, FLEW APOCOLYPTIC STYLE at me! I loosed a clip from my HMG with my eyes closed and managed a kill without taking damage)

Well, 1 guy down, 2 badly hurt... is start welding... next thign I know, a giant ... RHINO like thing comes barreling down on us screaming to bloody |-|ell<span style='font-size:8pt;line-height:100%'>™</span>

Well, everyone opens fire, me with my welder still out (DOH)... and I get the kill, which makes me think that that beast is easy to kill (I just welded an onos to death... I had forgoten 4 other ppl were shooting HMG/Shottys at it!)


Well, next round I saw 2 coming at me, so I whipped out my GL, popped 4 off... and promptly fell off my chair as the damned things gored me to kingdom come! I met another one later on as a JP/Shotty when I roudned a corner and LANDED on the damn thing! I died a moment later (after I got back up OFF the floor) as the thing looked at me and BAM!

Well my first onos encounter was in a 1.04 match. So far I only seen everything but fades and onos. I was new to the game so of course I didn't know much, so the comm told everyone to come back to base. The comm dropped the usual ha/hmg/gl/shotty/welder, so of course I picked up the stuff and was about to go rambo , hey i was a nub at that time. So we are marching to their hives, which I didn't know what hives were at that time.

Skulks and lerks were attacking us, and spores harmed ha in 1.04 so yea... <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->. Well our squad are killing aliens left and right, out of the corner of my eyes, i see a rhino-like alien but i can only see about 1/4 of it. Few seconds later, the onos did paralye and gored me and i died <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->, but right after i died, the squad killed the onos <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

First experience would have been 1.0 on Eclipse, when we finally managed to get three Hives up and somebody yelled 'All right! Onos time!' Before I knew what was happening, I saw a huge wall of meat running down the corridor and could only get out of the way. lol, I've got a similer story.

On eclipse in 1.0, I was the marines, we were holding out desperatly vs many fades with their damned acid rockets. Then, through the right door, two onos just charged in, damn I almost **** my pance.

First time I saw an Onos was in my first game ever. I joined a server that happened to be running over some guy's cable modem. Combined with a massive turret farm and the 1.0 server performance, our pings were shooting through the roof. Anyway, the game had been running for some time and marines were boxed into marine spawn (ns_eclipse) so things were pretty crowded. The comm asked if anyone else wanted a go in the seat, so I volunteered.

The first thing we needed was res, so I recycled our siege turret (prompting cries of "What are you doing? That's our biggest gun!" "But it only fires on buildings." "Oh."), and started placing more turrets. Suddenly, an Onos burst through the doors and the server hit a lag spike. Next thing I know, the Onos is gone leaving several dead marines behind him. As they respawned, there were complaints about lag - and then, the Onos reappeared screaming into the voicecom "I AM THE LAG MONSTER!!!". And then the server gave up and dropped me. Fun times...

My first meeting with an Onos wasn't very pretty, but we've had a love/hate relationship since then.

I had just joined an NS game for the first time, the day after 2.0 came out. The first thing that hit me was the chaos. Marines were dying left and right, green clouds everywhere, and ominous footsteps echoing outside the door. So the first thing I ever typed in an NS game was "Is it like this all match?" I got a prompt "SUYF nubcaeks!". (my name was still NSPlayer) I died, spawned again and ran out the door as quickly as I could. For a little while, I thought I had made it and was about to ask what I was suppose to do now, then all of a sudden this huge blob showed up right in front of my face. Needless to say, I screamed, but the worst part was the devour, my first ever. I jumped up out of my chair and yelled "SH*T!" when he devoured me, almost fell over. It may not be the good old 1.04 days, but 2.0 was a damn good version. *sigh*

mine wasn't nice. i was walking w/ a pack of 4 LMG&LA marines. i was scouting, they were supporting me. i pop around the corner, see this huge horn thing, and the next thing i know, i'm in its stomach.

I never saw my first Onos. My team wasn't doing too well, and then all of a sudden, I spawn, and I instantly see this "Digesting" screen.

1.0x, ns_caged and i was building an rt in upper sewer when 2 oni came at me. i had a hmg and i just let loose, but i didnt last very long. my first gorge experience was funnier since i kept building rt's on myself

I don't remember, but it was back in 1.0x days when even 1 mediocre onos meant endgame. so I quickly met death. All the time after that,as soon as I saw an onos in base I almost always F4ed immediately like a wuss.

The first time I saw an Onos, I was dead before I figured out that the thing wasn't a hive. I was in Bast, looking out one of the doors around the endless pit area, so all I saw was the side of this monstrosity.

ns_bast 2.0 i scout ahead for the HA guys in the elevator + ladder thingie and all of a sudden ROAR i turn around and see in the corner a giant rhino i scream and climb the ladder praying ill make it i get to the top and hear ladder sounds...

it came right after me...then i just crawled in the vent across it and laughed popping pistol shots at it...good times on bast GOOD times indeed.

Mine was back in 1.00 I think. I played NS at a LAN my first time, but didn't see any Onos, then I decided to play online, because it was fun. It was ns_tanith. I remember running out into that hall towards satcom, and I saw these things. I said on voice comm "Oh my god, what are those rhyno things? They're coming!" Then we lost.
