ok, spawn camp never been an issue in 2.0 (for aliens)..
but it began to be an issue in 3.0 when skulk hp was lowered... skulks die before they can even move after spawning.
but you could definitly get away from being spawn killed in 2.0.

i believe the reason skulk hp was lowered in 3.0, because it was hard to hit bunnyhoping skulk (at least on the vets servers while playtesting 3.0), bunnyhoping skulk could get to you so fast before you can even shoot a few bullets. so i bet flayra didn't like it and he lowered the skulk hp.

removing bunnyhoping and adding skulk hp back to where it was, should fix spawn camping, and make this game a lot more fun to play imo.

there have been lots of threads about bunny hopping. Many people dont like it but some get used by it and actually like it!!

I myself manage to bhop, not 100% perfect, but I know how to do so and for me its still annoying. It´s not annoying for people because they haven´t enough practice. It´s also a balance problem as you mentioned above!

I´m also for increasing skulk HPs.

well removing bunnyhopping is nothing like removing RTs...
its an insane variable really, for people who can do it skulks arent so bad, for people who cant skulks are a pain in the backside to play as.
The problem comes from the balance being tested by people who can usually bhop.

bhopping should be an extra advantage for skulks, it should not bring skulks up to 'normal', otherwise it should go.

Skulk HP is lowered; because hitbox of 3.0 skulk is smaller than the 2.0 one...

SKing was always there... and will be... People need to learn how to live and deal with it...

yes skulks, die like flies under concantrated fire... However, Beefing up HP will cause more balance troubles; rather than solving the SK problem... Most of the skulk marine encounters in normal game is in ambush format; a skulk must be close and undetected before making the move... wheter you remove or keep BHOP; If you beef skulk HP so that it will survive under concantrated fire then the balance in 1vs1 situations will be dramatically awfull...

    unless that skulk is afk.

Skulk armor changed dramatically, but HP has only changed what, 5 points?

It also doesn't help that armor is now a 1/1 absorption instead of %.

Adding HP just confuses the real problem I think.

I would say leave things as they are and discuss the "unchain chambers" thread <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Uh, isn't the point for marines to have to use teamwork and that the skulk SHOULD almost always win 1v1?(unless he tries to charge down a long cooridor or something)

in 2.0, it took 6 pistol shots to take down a just-spawned skulk. in 3.0 it takes 5. am i missing something major here? increasing skulk hp will help the alien game a lot, and something I'm suprised hasn't happened yet, but it certainly wont help spawn camping.

Removal of bunnyhop would only effect like 5% of players at most. Wouldnt be a huge loss. Id rather have skulk speed increased than force people to learn BH.

Personally I think there needs to be less emphasis on Difficult Techniques such as BH and Blink and a greater emphasis on Teamwork skills (Communication, Coordination, Organisation, etc) Either by making the formentioned techniques easier to perform or by making teamwork more effective.

Id like to see more NS games decided on teamwork instead of how many 'good' players the team has. Only in the rare cases where the player's skill level is equal (such as a properly seeded tournament), does this happen.

    But thats just me.

You missed the point. Hes saying that when you start balancing the game towards a minority (i.e bunny hoppers) then you alienate the majority. Granted 'anyone can learn it if they want to' but the fact is a vast majority simply arent taking to it.

If bunnyhopping was replaced with something everyone could do (e.g running and jumping - only faster) then its far easier to balance things. If this wasnt a team oriented game, then your 'get skill' reply might hold some weight.

I dont think flayra intended bunnyhopping to be a requirement, i think its inclusion was to avoid anoying the clan scene more than anything. In fact if anyone has a quote of Flayra saying why Bunnyhopping is in NS, i love it see it. An official statement regarding BH might end some of these arguements.

Elitism reeks in every thread that it's in. Sometimes the urge to slap people around and scream "IT'S A GAME! IT'S FOR FUN, NOT FOR YOU TO BUFF YOUR EGO!" becomes too much, and I have to go soak my head.

I remember once I was PVPing on an MMORPG, and a guy told me after I killed him "THIS GAME TAKES NO SKILL GO PLAY CS THAT TAKES SKILL! BUNNY HOPPING TAKES SKILL"

And I also recall my reply was something along the lines of "..it took me less than one maps play time to learn to bunny hop once it was explained how it was done"

They act like it is some god-like talent to be able to bunny hop.. It isn't. But most people have no one to explain how to do it. So they dont want to bother to have to learn something.

Yes.. bhopping is fun... although I can not do it very well at all. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I shall play any of you in JK.. that would be fun to see. :-)

Think of Quake or HL on crack.. and 100x as fast lol :-)

I would rather see bhopping removed and base speeds increased to compensate.
more elegant, intuative and simple then bhopping tbh.
everyone benefits, not just those with high frame rates and the mystic knowledge.

game becomes more fun for EVERYONE, including *gasp* new players!!!

Thats 50% of the reason I would like Bhopping to go, the other smaller reasons are I cant do it well, and it seems to bring out the worst in peoples attitudes.

That would help, but do you really expect either of those things to happen? Im not getting the impression the dev team are really pushing for greater BH intergration. As i said earlier, its inclusion is more of a compromise than anything (take it away from marines, but keep it for aliens). Almost as if they were afraid to completely remove it for fear of losing players.
