yep 2 hive...i just redownloaded 1.04 and it's so friekin cool! however it sorta went a little slow (probably from a bad video card) but i think it'll go smoothly on my regular pc (which is currently broken, but has a GeForce 4 on it. not great but good)
i'm also planning to make a 1.04 server when it works! also made arrangements with a few other ppl, hope to make it a little popular to have different version servers. my friend going to canada at the end of this school year, will have 314 (i think) KBps (bytes, not bits <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->) i asked him to make a dedicated server, he said ok. sound good?

Make sure you have an awesome cpu to support the load.
The trick to old blink is to crouch-jump before using it. Once you have jumped, point the cursor to where you want to be, if everything works out, you should teleport there instantaneously.

I loved how the skulks would try to hide on the walls but you could see them sticking out because they would look like they were walking on the ground.
I dont realy like 3.0. 2.0 was okay, but 1.04 was super good. If they could just have fixed the bugs instead of a new ugly game <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->
good stuff -
* 1-2 gorges - this was great, fast res OCs usefull and teamplay. They also needed protection.
* No shotgun bugs. - i hate sparks!
* 3 hives = good game. - This is hwo it should be. fades vs ha was the best thing about this game.
* Hive restrictions - It gave meaning, and it was balanced
* Lots of lots of more teamplay
bad stuff, they should have fixed this.
* JPs insane power, they should be better then they are in 2.0-3.0... they suck waste of res.
* Marine bhop. - It's ok, and it can still be done in 2.0-3.0.
* Hitboxes... - no need to explain. tho fixing onos hitboxes would harly unbalance with 1.04 system. i mean paralyze! bye HAs...
You know mods maybe the reason why 1.04 is brought up so much is becuase people actually like it more then 3.0... So it's not going to stop coming up until something is done with it. 1.04 steam doesn't even have to be in the main NS install, it could be an addon
1.04 was great. I love the 1 gorge thing, the res caps depending on how many hives, and the skulks actually getting upgrades (usually carapace). Hive dependence was better back then, things were harder for aliens when they only had one hive, no fades or onos.
Edit: I almost forgot. The onos paralyze was so much cooler than stomp. Onos' could actually do something against jetpackers.

3.0 is just mainly competition.
I also liked how gorges would jump straight up with no animation, looked so cute D=.

Too many people romanticise about 1.04...I think it's because ns was fresh to us then and a new exciting experience, not the game being any better.
