Aliens With 24 Res On Headstart

<div class="IPBDescription">Discussin about a little balance detail</div> I've noiced the 24 res when starting as alien, i dunno if it's already discussed here, if is, please lock this topic and redirect to other one


IMO this 24 res start is unbalancing pub games with more than 6 players, because the minute that takes for acquiring this 1 res needer for a res node is giving marines a far edge over the aliens, because they don't need to wait, they just go droping and building the res nodes at the rate their res allow


I ask for bringing back the 25 res

    It's a bug, it's logged and fixed for b5. And actually you still have the correct res amout, it's just counting wrong. Try it. You can drop an rt with 14 res and go back skulk when you only have 1 res showing.

    Yes it is 25 res even if it is showing 24 res. Trying to do anything like trying to drop rt or so with only 14 res won't work in popup menu but you can do these things with impulses such as

    Impulse 91 - Build a OC
    Impulse 92 - Build a DC
    Impulse 93 - Build a SC
    Impulse 94 - Build a MC
    Impulse 95 - Build hive

    Impulse 113 - Skulk

    Oops yeah, I didn't think of it not working via the popup menu. I never use the popup menu for anything anymore. (have to bind the num pad to something, after all!)

    The pop-up menu may work seeing as how I built a hive with 39 res yesterday using it. I had the menu open and was waiting for that 1 res tick, which never happened (10vs10 with 1 rt for aliens =\) and released the menu to scratch my... uh.... nose <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> and the hive went up when my res still said 39.

    Basically, it doesn't show you can do anything via the menu, but it may still be possible.

    I don't think this is a bug, I could never build and rt with 14 res, but I'll check that out

    It does work via the pop-up menu even though the item is greyed out.

    gorge -> res tower -x-> skulk with 1 res

    looks like the display get bugged with 99 res only

    Ok, even if it WAS 24 res instead of 25... It's just ONE resource you're talking about there. That wouldn't make the game less balanced... rofl

    Just bind the impulses for drop RT and gestate into skulk to a couple keys and try it that way. Trust me, it works.

    It may be "JUST ONE" resource, but it like the marines starting with 14 res an unable to make an RT until their 1/6 of a tower makes a res.

    It REALLY slows down the aliens in large games, they need a min to get the res for a tower.

    Try playing in a 10 vs 10 server, it takes a LOONNG time to get that one res.

    (but the imbalances at different numbers of players is another story

    why can't they have (alien res income= no.rts*numberplayers/6)? That would balance it out...)

    Read the second post. You do not start with 24 resources, you start with 25. However, the resource display is bugged and shows one less resource than you actually have.

    This is true. I use a bind to place rts/chambers/hives, and it always works with 14 res.

    To everyone belittling this thread, bear in mind we're talking about the very start of the game when there is one res tower supporting the entire team.

    Nonono, reread it. The game is EXACTLY the same as it has been.

    Yessss, I know that. Your point being ? I was merely indicating why it was a problem that needed fixing.
