Defending, I have a level one starbase and 15 destroyers that will land before the attack.
Edit: I have 36 destroyers launched at his main planet. He has a level 11 SB. I have 3 destroyers launched at a lower level planet- it has SB 4 now.
Final Edit: I've spent all point on starbase and resigned. Now at Beta Pherkad Major (-66/28).
Bah, I just sent destroyers to take out a player who had been afk for 3 days. He only has 1 planet SB6, I only sent 32 destroyers because I had a feeling he would come online.... lo and behold, he has logged back on!

This is what really gets on my nerves with astrowars. I have 4planets vrs his 1 and know that he will win this battle but not the war. I just get so annoyed that the game allows afk'ers to come back and spoil my day. It happens every beta, its like I have the afk nemesis after me.

damn im get hammered by multi count frenchies, 3 of em all attacking me and my allies and all have the same points.. exactly same points. well im so screwed, i just lost 85 destroyers and only killed about 20%, and thats with my +2 attack and and level 6 physics,

My nemesis has sat back with his SU's and seems to be building his SB up again. One of two French players from the closest system to me an my ally have taken over my fledgling planet that I colonised hours ago.
I have since put him under seige and colonised a free planet. I hit culture 6 very soon and have transports/more ships inbound to take back my planet.
The bad thing is that my ally had a malus to his attack - and isn't really much use as an attacking force to me...
I am counting down now until stronger forces come our way and take out my allie first followed by me. Well maybe not <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--> if I can link up with some other NS peeps I may be more secure.

well the french **** all launched attacks against my 3 planets i have left, their memo intitled "does it hurt?" made me laugh slightly. Than he wrote some crap about the french, germans and europeans owning us americans. and how america sucks. Well as a reply i sent the message

and with the money i saved for the past 4 days i bumbed up all of my starbases up to 11-11-13 and got 8 SU's from the xp or their fleets, i promptly sold the SU's and plan to bump my starbase up to level 20 or so just to **** off the lil kniving ****.
its kinda fun...and i knew i was screwed from the start cuz my ally said it was his first time and was giving me orders and crap, but its coool i had a good run last betas
be seeing you guys in a few months when i get back to school and can play astro regularly, sorry i havnt been aim and msn lately guys, astro lost its luster when i knew i was doomed

Starbase bumping is lame. It's like turret farming , there's no real counter to that. Large starbases are overly expensive to destroy , so basically you put 3 planets out of the game.
I know memphis and fearfacteur well , they're astrowars veterans , and respectable ones too. If you apologize for your SB laming I'll tell them , and they should apologize for being foolishly patriotic/insulting to your country. There's just too much hate around...
I'm just kinda sitting there building destroyers behind my high level SB's atm. I only have three of the planets in my system the other two guys have the rest but all my SB and population are higher, and I'm guessing I'm cranking out PP faster than them too. I've Done it! Beta Haris-el-sema is mine! 2 afks and my only competition comletely sieged out of existence! All I need to do now is begin absorbing planets into my empire and keep up the culture to do so. Once I've established a defensive line, I think I'll go on an offensive spree and possibly absorb another star system. It would be awesome to occupy two star systems **drools**

I suppose an expensive solution, if your not worried about losing XP is to send numerous lower CV fleets to whitle the SB down to 0.
