Making a thread simply for all the Nintendo lovers~

While there are some exceptional games coming for the Gamecube, it is the Nintendo DS that has gotten my full attention.

A few things before we start:
Nintendo E3 Presentation Torrent - 47min long.
E3 Game List - Scroll down to the DS section. Anything with a dot in the 4th row has a video you can watch.

Dear god.
Nintendo have come up with something extremely unique. While the rest of the competition is mearly content with miniturising their components (Which is all well and good in it's own respect), Nintendo have gone a step further and have reinvented handheld gaming.

As many of you should already know, the Nintendo DS is a Dual Screen system (Hence the DS) They are split up into top and bottom segments, with the bottom screen being a touch-sensitive pad. Obviously this opens up a wide range of possibilities to game developers. Some may choose to make use of the touch-pad, some may choose to use it as a menu system, some as a scoreboard, etc. It really has opened up a whole new realm for Nintendo to dominate in.

Just watch the vidoes for the games on IGN. I want to go out and preorder an imported version of the DS and a few games, and I have never ever done that before. Super Mario 64x4 looks like an incredible amount of fun, and I already know of 2 friends who will be buying 1 alongside me just for games like these. Heh, and one of those friends will convince us all to buy Metroid Hunters.

Hell personally I wanna get my hands on Wario Ware DS. Looks like so much fun, and the use of the touch screen just cinche's the deal.

Nintendo also unvield a host of other Gamecube goodies. Such as new Zelda and (Old school non-rpg crap) Starfox games.

Nintendo have easily won my E3 vote for Best at Show. Boo on Gordon Freeman and Doom guy.

    PS.

World 1 of Super Mario 64 on the Nintendo DS. I am praying for a single player component to Super Mario 64 x 4.

I must say that Nintendo is owning the E3 and we can't even imagine half of what these japanese masterminds will innovate in the next years.

    I applaud Nintendo.

this is why i have stuck with nintendo over the years, i held out, i didn't buy a PS2, i waited, and look at what they have done now.
DS will own the PSP, but i might end up getting both

Watch the video I posted. Exact same thing as in this article, but in video format.

The DS will be getting a new name come launch time and in the video he refers it as "to us (game developers) it stands for more than that (DS) It stands for Developer System)"

    Or something to that effect....

Sadly I must admit I did buy a PS2 and a XBOX howver only for two games.. well now 3.. Grand Turismo 1, 2,3 on the PS2 and Xbox for Halo and Halo2 when it comes out.

I did stay with nintendo since there lovely rise from they old gray consoles and there super invention of super nintendo and N64 :-) I was sad when I saw the gamecube, but.. since zelda has come out I am quite happy and now with the lovely E3 they can have my attention once more.

NINTENDO IS THE PWNER T3H WINNAR and etc. ;-)

Woohoo... don't need to edit this one.. perfect typing :-)

Anyone wanna bet someone will soon launch a handheld with PSP's graphics and DS's touchscreen? (The evil corporation's)

Touchscreen handheld, talk about innovation soon to be copied, just like rumble pack, analog stick, shoulder buttons, D-pad.

Well... Nintendo are first with the dual screen. If anybody else comes out with a similar design (IE Touch-pad or dual screen), it will be seen as a desperate clingy effort to retain a piece of the market.

Let's face it people. Nintendo ARE the handheld market.

After this I'm not even bothered with the Sony and MS show. The new Zelda looks, just....wow!

Everytime I fear I'm growing tired of videogames, my complete lack of resistance to handhelds always pulls me back in. I'm salivating over the DS and PSP.

    WarioWare DS will eclipse Tetris.

    You'll see.

Nintendo's best E3 in years. That was so awesome when I was watching the live footage from the show, and then just when I thought it would end, as if I wasn't excited enough about Advance wars on GC, and the DS... oh my god, new Zelda game. And it actually looks good!

The DS looks amazing too. Must start saving now, god knows how much that thing will cost but i'll be damned if I don't buy that on day 1.

I have to say, the Zelda game... well, it looked fantastic. I'm sure it'll play great. But... I really, really wanted a sequel to Wind Waker.

Miyamoto came up with the idea for The Legend of Zelda because as a kid, he used to run around in the woods with a stick fighting imaginary battles. LoZ is the classic daydream. The "darker, grittier" design of this game doesn't capture that sense of magic. There are also some elements of Zelda that are absolute mainstays and just may not translate well. What's one thing you did *all* the time in Zelda? Pick stuff up and hold it over your head. Can you imagine that Link holding a big pot over his head? Or a madly flailing chicken?

I have no doubt it will be a spectacular game. I just hope it's a spectacular *Zelda* game. Wind Waker, as much as people maligned its child-like Link, was absolutely magical. It also sported one of the most rewarding combat (and general control) schemes I've ever used (my short list of perfect control schemes includes Wind Waker, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, and Oni).

Oh, and I needed to change my pants halfway through the DS presentation. Holy wow.

As a whole, the presentation was quite good. The DS sounds like it will be a great platform, and as their main selling point, it is very innovative. But then again, i ask myself.. With the multitude of gaming consoles and PCs i have, do i really need a hand-held gaming console, well, no, personally, i don't.

Nintendo have always and will always dominate the hand-held market, i think only the Game Gear ever came close to the popularity of the Gameboy, but with poor battery life and, well, crap games, it died.

They also raise a good point, it's not about horsepower anymore. That's true, we're getting to a place where we can make mind-blowing visuals, but that's soon going to be not enough, which is very true, and i'm interested to see where their next generation console will go, but i fear it will take the same path as the GC.

Dispite all the sales figures and propaganda, the GC didn't do quite as well as they seem to admit. Yes, they had rising sales figures, yes they beat the Xbox, but to be honest, the only reason they showed such high growth was the fact that nobody bought one in the first place. I own a GC, as well as a PS2 (And a plethora of older consoles), and i must say that it barely ever sees the light of day. I think i've used my PS2, Dreamcast and SNES more recently than the GC.

Awww... I'm one of those people who wants to like Nintendo but just can't.

    *MUST... HAVE... VIOLENT FIRST-PERSON SHOOTERS!*

Anyways, I'm kind of sad that the Game Boy Advance is dying. It was the only place I could go to get fresh 2D games that weren't sucky Flash imitations or ROMs of games I've already beaten... So I hope Nintendo will continue to make 2D games, 'cuz they're the only ones I've liked except for Metroid Prime, and that was an American game.

I haven't played Nintendo in a while, with my interests being solely in computer games for the past years. But my devotion and loyalty to them unwavers. It is satisfying to know that they're coming back with a vengeance now.
