Is It Worth Recycling Rt?

I dont think so
If there are 2 skulks you can recylce it in time. If you dont have players on say the left side of the map and you recycle the rt the skulk will just go to the next one then the next one. If you do have someone they might save it in time saving your marines from wasting time building a new rt, you got some res you wouldnt have during the recycle and rebuild time, and you received no loss in res from recycling and rebuilding(you dont get all the res back when you recycle). It takes 1 alien player awhile to kill a rt plus makes them an easy target. I never recycle rts.

Also, i dont like elec rts b/c if you spend that res on upgrades your team will live longer meaning they can go farther across the map to threaten alien rts and hive while cutting off paths to your rts. 5 elec rts is 150 res. Thats an upgraded armory and leve 2 weapons and armor with an arms lab structure too or you could just stick with no upgraded armory and level 0 weapons and armor. Anyways if you spend all the res to elec rts by the time you are done they have a fade, so the elec rts wont last long.

I like placing 3 d in a vent next to a marine elec rt. Then 1 skulk can take it out without having to stop attacking, plus you get the 3 chambers put down, you get a place to heal closer to marine base, and cara skulk with 3 d chambers healing it next to marine base is the bomb.

I think it really depends on the situation. If there is another res node close by and you feel the aliens are going to hit it after the one they are currently attacking goes down, it may be wiser to let them kill that and send a few Marines to their predicted next target.

If you have a res node way off on the other side with no hope of saving or and no other res nodes in your control nearby, I don't see it as a waste to recycle it.

If you recycle the alien will be free to go to the next rt or to attack your marines that is my real point.

I never recycle, if you have the time to recycle, you would get more res from letting it work until its destroyed, and it keeps the aliens busy for a bit.

If you don't have time to recycle, then you get 0 res.

When I'm alien, I LOVE comms that recycle as soon as I start biting. Makes my job so much easier.

Dont recycle them ever. Never know when a marine will come by killing the alien.
  • CMasterCMaster Join Date: 2003-10-25 Member: 21922Members
More importantly in the time it takes for an RT to recycle, it makes more than 7.5 res. Therefore it is never, and can never be worthwhile to recycle a RT.

Only RTs worth recycling are unbuilt RTs.. You get more RTs back, they dont make res anyway and aliens tend to ignore them more and go away while recycling (even if its more logicak for them to continue biting).

there is *always* a chance to get some res back, no matter what

the skulk may run away, something might happen etc

with two-three clicks you have a chance to get money

don't recycle usually, i prefer to have that skulk off the field, chomping an rt. ideally you'll set a marine to that rt to rebuild/save it.

IF an rine is going to save it, i recycle, so i can get some rez back, and rebuild one for full health.

Recycle rt is useless as some guy posted before you dont get res while the rt is recycling and it normally would get destroyed before u get the recycle res.

If i play alien i awlays bit the rt to the end even if i hear the recycling sound. just to make sure they dont get 7 res for that rt

The whole point of not recycling is to have aliens lose time taking rts down... And time is big factor in NS along with res... Anyways try recycling all rts alien touches and see whats gonna happen... 1 min all rts gone and aliens are free to own your rines

i´ve seen commanders who electro their res Towers if a Skulk attacked it and it is at red or yellow. But the important thing is: The electro it after the Skulk was killed. Why do they do that? is it worth the res?

Hahaha, I think this thread is killed. Lesson: Never recycle your RTs, ignore them and rebuild them as soon as the aliens are gone, and try not to lose too many marines rebuilding them. Secrets good coms know.

Its never worth recycling a rsr. It takes 30 seconds to recycle and in that time you cannot gain rsr's from it. This kinda makes the entire recycle process worthless since you dont even gain as much from the recycled node. The node also makes the skulk bite it and use his time which he coudl be spending pressuring you.

I see recycleing rt's better for the sole reason of the time it takes to repair the damn thing! Takes like an hour for a welder to repair a rt that is in the red! I cant tell you how many times ive died to a skulk while trying to repair a rt. Takes like two to three welders to repair a rt in decent time!
  • SaltzBadSaltzBad Join Date: 2004-02-23 Member: 26833Members
    And you'd repair it why?

Its going to get you res wether its almost dead or at perfect health. If it gets killed, build a new one, whoop di friggin do.

If the Resource nodes are near MS or the base , I rather send 1/2 marines to defend it , if its far from base ------(reclying)

Welders are great for fixing armor and repairing important structures. RTs are not important. In fact, they're probably the most disposable of all marine buildings.

They make more money while they are being destroyed than they save you if you recycle them. The only RT worth recycling is an unbuilt RT with no hope of being saved. If the RT is still alive, move on.

You only need 90 seconds for an RT to make as much money as it costs, and you're better off not welding them back to full health. The reason for this is because if you send one guy with a welder to fix the RT, that's one marine not killing the alien's stuff, which takes more resources to build than any marine stuff. Not to mention the welder costs money. Not to mention welders are usually bait if they don't have teammates covering, which means even more guys aren't killing the alien's stuff while they focus on an RT which is already working.

If your RT goes down, as a commander you only need 15 res, 2 seconds of your time, and 1 marine in position to rebuild it. THATS IT. You don't have to do what the aliens do, which is save up 25 res, find an empty resource, spend time nearby gestating, then building it as a lifeform with little to no real combat effectiveness, with or without cover.

The whole time that skulk is eating your RT, he's not eating your marines, or moving toward your base. The only time I kill RTs is when the marine team is being slow or just not doing anything. The rest of the time, I'm protecting alien RTs and hive positions from marines, because they're worth more of my time than killing easily replaced enemy RTs. When you play alien, the idea is to stop the marines from putting up RTs by killing them before they have a chance to. The only time you kill an RT is when the marines aren't pressing your team because they get lazy, or when you plan on putting an RT up right after the marine RT goes down, or when it's convenient because you're camping the room it's in. When there aren't any marine RTs, you take your shot at the marine base, and force the marines to either come back and kill you, or spend one of their guys guarding.

Even if there are marine RTs, if you can attack their base and kill something THERE, ignore the RT and go camp the marine base until your team gets there and overruns them.

There are better things to worry about as a commander and as an alien than RTs.

It's actually only 60 seconds. I disagree with ignoring marine rt's though. It will take about the same time for them to rebuild the rt later as it takes you to kill it. While they rebuild it, they aren't attacking anything, which means it is easier to protect your rt's. If they don't rebuild it, then they get slower upgrades.

The point is not to debate 1 or 2 res here, the point is that your time is best spent doing other things, so recycle it, or not, but either way, get it over with and go back to supporting your marines!

It always depends on my mood I'm in when playing the game. I usually only elec my nodes when I already have about 4-5 nodes, and my MT upgrading along with 2 other arms labs which are getting armor and weapon upgrades, I obviously have to have phase first before the Elec. I do, however, elec every so often when I have like 4 nodes at the beginning of a round just for the sake of the stupid skulks not killin them, and I dont elec the ones near marine base just ones like at the untaken hive we take, or around the map not around hwere the marine base is. It seems to work well, commanding is a weird job, one round the marines love you for the job well done you did and want to worship you, and the next they just turn on you and ejecct you simply cause they did a poor job at doing what I say.

that makes no sense!! Never recycle an RT! I only recycle it when it´s unbuilt and the marine who should build it is dead.

Recycling rts doesnt worth it, because at least there could be a marine that can save the rt, but if there ar 2 skulks killing it , recycling is one thing htat doesnt worth to waste the commander time . Its better to tell a marine to kill the skulk or to atack the hive to make them fall back. recycilng an rt will give u 7 res, and if the res is saved, and u have recycled it, u need to waste 8 res in building another one

It doesnt worth it to recycle a rt, try to save it
