<div class="IPBDescription">i dunno how they do it?</div> I'd say I'm an average NS player, maybe half way between the worst and the best.
I can handle a skulk, varly good as marine and I understand the game.
My MAJOR flaw is when I'm fade, heres why.
I see these guys playing as fade, and they do this blink/swipe move which is really effective, it seems this is the way to go with fade.
But like I havnt a clue how they do it??
They way I'm setup on NS, for me to do a blink/swipe, it would mean me having to;
- blink selected -> use blink
- Scroll mouse wheel up, twice
- Select Swipe, one click
- Use swipe, one click
- Scroll mouse down, twice
- Select blink, one click
- Use blink, one click
All in the space of like 0.1 seconds!
Are poeple actually doing this manually with there mouse like I'm trying to do? Or are they using some kind of key bind?
Maybe I just havnt got the cordination I dunno?

But I'm pretty sure it's a bind.
- select blink -> use blink
- select swipe. I prefer to do this by hitting 1.
- Use swipe
Two buttons total to swipe after the blink.
Ill give it a go!

romano's clientside lastinvscript = pwnz
Fastswitch does not work for invnext and invprev.
Yeah A Civ is probably the guy to ask for help when it comes to fading.
EDIT: Also where can i get romano's lastinv script?
I have to secound that motion as a 56k i suffer from massive server lag when using the normal last inv his script does away with the lag <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Anyway to the orignal guy bind last inv to a key close to your fingers Q or a mouse button are good then select weapon 1-2 then you can swap between them with last inv, very usefull command.
I don't even use the script, and it's some pretty sad HL scripting, could be done much cleaner.. but it gets the job done.

Copy the code into your userconfig.cfg (if you don't have one, make it).. assuming you use 1,2,3,4 for slots 1-4 (as default) and q for lastinv (default), the script will work "out of the box". If you don't use those keys, you'll have to replace the keys in the script...
You can script it, but there is not much point. Get a mouse with oodles of buttons and bind them to the weapons.
Btw, Romano, are you sure the clientside lastinv makes a difference? I tried it and didn't really notice. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo--> Still, it's a nice piece of work.
I do it all the time, (bind mwheelup slot3. bind mwheeldown slot4. hud_fastswitch 1). Of course I do use easier buttons for the most common weapons (bind mouse2 slot1. bind mouse4 slot2).
Mouse1 - Fire
Mouse2 - last used weapon (lastinv)
Select swipe, select blink.
Blink in, mouse2, mouse1 mouse1, mouse2 (blink out) ... But when you are a metabolize spammer, you need to be able to find your fastswitch keys as well.
I believe this is how the absolute leetest do it ... Shame I just cant aim swipes for sh!t

Ah, now you're abusing my sentence. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
You knew I meant "Changing weapons with your mousewheel bound to invprev/invnext is insane"
<!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
You leap somone, then dont move the mousewheel up enough so end up dying in vain trying to paraite them to death... <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo-->
thats useful <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
OT
Where's your flashlight go?
And do you have a walk key?
Change popup menu to mouse3
Bind lastinv to mouse2
hud_fastswitch 1
pwn
Remeber that the fades slash has a smaller radius than the skulk

Flashlight is mwheelup, use is mouse3, and reload is mwheeldown. Walk is z, which is right next to my crouch key (shift).
Anyway, fading is just a matter of knowing marine movement, your movement and how to get from point a to b the fastest and safest. Sometimes planning movement in a room with diagrams helps. In RR on tanith for example, it is effective to blink using the walls to help you go faster, plus it screws with your hitboxes a bit and helps dodging.
I use the arrow keys for movement, right shift jump, right ctrl duck mouse 1 fire mouse 2 lastinv mouse 3 walk and enter for the menu o yeah and kp_insert for reload!

Hah.
Nope.
Mousemovers. :S
Mouse1 +forward
mouse2 +back
Then it varies, but the person I met used "n" for strafe left, "," for right, and "m" for fire.
Yep. That's pretty strange. I have never tried it, but it would probably confuse the hell out of me.
I would just end up "walking" at someone when trying to shoot... :S
Also, on slightly unrelated note: I would like to practice some blinking techniques but I don't know how to start a game by myself. Can someone teach me how to use sv_cheats and all that?
I have not tested it, but this should work:
alias +blink "slot2;wait;+attack"
alias -blink "-attack;wait;slot1"
bind mouse2 +blink

Enabling cheats (sv_cheats 1) is all you need to do to be able to start a game by yourself.
Here are the cheat codes, as listed in the NS 3.0 Manual:
