Moving The Text Down

Currently block view
Currently text is displayed in the centre-left of the screen. However, as I point out in the picture below, whenever anyone types out a long sentence the text gets in the way. If a few long strings are displayed, then I just have to hope that aliens aren't going to attack me from the left.

Is there a way to move it down so that it's just above the HP indicator?
Is there a way to limit amount of lines displayed at any one time?
Is there a way to speed up removal of chat text from the screen?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the help! It's not ideal, but having it shift off-screen faster is much better than the current system. (:

...you can set it to 0... and there will be no more text

I'm pretty sure there was another command that limited the number of lines shown on screen. I have no idea what it is though, and I can't check either cause no HL on this computer. Another thing you might want to look into is changing the font size. There's a webbed guide in the main customization forums I think.
