<div class="IPBDescription">Yep. It's true.</div> Before the 101 patch came out, every playtester and his cat said the game was balanced, but that the aliens simply had a learning curve of, say, 20 hours of gameplay. Sure, it was the one of the biggest learning curves in the history of gaming, but it was all the game needed.
Playtesters insulted every new player as a lunatic newbie, totally incapable of judging balance or knowing what the game needed to be better since the game had only been released a few days before.
After the patch comes out, the consensus seems to be overwhelmingly behind the idea that the game is NOW balanced. whatever problems there are now, were there before. Everyone finds the game much more enjoyable now.
So...... yeah, don't trust the playtesters. They're smokin good stuff. Their credibility is just as valuable as anyone else's now. FREE FOR ALL!!!!!!!!!

Not to mention that I highly doubt they had any "5up3rl33tll4m4" playtesters...who are the ones who find the REAL balance issues by exploiting the hell out of something until it HAS to be fixed.
Seriously what did you expect from a post like this, overwhelming support? The PTs had played about 60 different RCs (all of which were different) and to them, who had been doing this forever and seen the development of the mod from the very beginning, it probably was balanced. Most of them are really good FPS gamers as well. It simply wasn't being tested in the right demographic.
Now it's been fixed. And everyone loves it now, correct. Perhaps the PTs could have been a bit more receptive to the feelings of others but then again, when dealing with the likes of board trolls (like me) I don't blame them for getting testy.
Let it drop?
