Slow Motion?

<div class="IPBDescription">Something has gone wrong...</div>Hey, umm....

I was playing NS just like any other day, but something weird happened - first, I noticed that the music that plays on the title screen was playing at about 1/2 the speed it should be. Also, once I joined a server, everything had an echo. Jumping noises, walking, and worst of all, gunfire went on for ages. I don't know what's causing this, but frankly, it's quite annoying. I've tried reinstalling Steam and NS. Anyone have a suggestion? I know my computer is good enough to run NS as I play Half-life 2 mods all the time as well.

    It keeps coming back?

First of all go into your userconfig.cfg and paste in the following:

    developer 1 (or developer 2)
    condebug 1

this (especially developer 2) combined should start a massive console spam in a file called qconsole.log in your HL directory. See if it errors anything. (can also be that it makes a condump file but I think only the condump command did that, HL has so many buildin log options. hehe)

I do not advice to run condebug always due to the fact that it fills up a log.

    Yeah, keeps coming back...

I tried that with developer 1 and 2. no log file or anything. Interestingly enough, it also runs up my CPU usage to 50% or over after i close NS. Like, until I restart. The sound and movement are laggy, etc...any other ideas...?

I am sure it makes logs. Let me get back on that one. :/

Moving target- what is your sound card and drivers. It almost sounds like you enabled the audio effects for the soundblaster's EAX Console, giving it an echo effect. In game, with the HUGE ammount of ambiance and other sounds, doing so would be a large hit on anything but a current top of the line processor, and even then... it's a lot of resources allocated to that.

Check your sound control panel if you use EAX just to be sure.

As for the 1/2 speed thing... that's... funky. Again, almost sounds like an audio effect- why it doesn't happen in game beats me o0

Creative Labs sound card. I checked my drivers, they're the latest. No EAX enabled. I sent a message to Steam about it, i'll see if they can help me out.

UPDATE: I have just discovered that I didn't have microsoft .net framework 2. I installed it, and now the game runs more smoothly, but I still get hte problem with 50% usage. Suggestions?
