first person view

<div class="IPBDescription">a bit more realistic maybe</div>Ok, i searched and didnt find any topic like this so started a new one. How about making it a bit more realistic, i have 3 ideas for improving the first person view.
First:
now if i look directly down i see the floor and like im flying, nothing under me, like my eyes would be on the downer side of my foot. the look of the first person could be like in the 'chronicles of rid###### escape from butcher bay' , there if i look directly down i can see my legs and a part of my body, even if im moving.
when im crouching i can see my leg on the left side of the screen, like IRL.
Second:
ok this is a bit integrated so:
a)
the ammo bar, shows how much ammo you have on the lower right corner of the screen. I think it could be on the weapon itself, like many other game, this would make the game more realistic.
b)
the heatlh bar, AND the ammo bar. Ok health and medpack is a 'mistic' thingy, and i think its not very good to put it directly on the screen. How about a helmet, like in 'Starwars Republic Commando' where you had the health, and ammo info on the screen, but the screen itself was the helmet you were wearing. Plus viewing trough a helmet would make easyer to make a POSSIBLE nightvison to be realistic, like not the entire screen is green/yellow/blue or something like that but only the part of the helmet you see on.(Yes i know this would block a part of the screen, but the health and ammo bar can be transparent.)
Third:
this is also about the weapons, and realism. Now in NS if i move with marine the weapon just moves forward-backward forward-backward etc, how about to make it a bit more moveable, none of us would handle a weapon IRL like it would stick to our hands.

    I would love to see NS2 being like Dark Messiah (being a good ex as it's on source aswell, unless I confused NS2 with NS:S or something). However it would be pretty useless gamewise.

    Ammo counter on weapons is very good idea, immersive, realistic and cool.

    Seeing as inside of a helmet is annoing even with transparency, it just feels, compact. Unless done very discretly.

    Marines currently has that blue thing covering their eyes which would easily provide the marines with a HUD. A counter on the weapon would be nice though.

    The aliens can sorta "feel" their health an energy status (well humans can too) and since you can't feel the same as the character you are playing, the game just has to visually represent it for you in the shape of bars and stuff. I don't see a real problem with that.

    i touth it could be something like this, this isnt annoying, its cool(if you havent played the game i suggest try it)
    plus there is a feature for it like when it gets wet, or bloody, a "forcefield' clears it

    hum if hit boxes get improved it would be nice to have the helmet and the hud tear off on the first head shot obiously leaveing you with a second life if you cant find a helm and press E on it, haveing no helm my leave you with ringing in ears lack of com open to a one shot kill head shot even at full health full armor as long as you have no helm
    yes this would mean no mini map no motion lack of health and ammo counter

    Republic Commando did it right imo. If there was ever to be a visible portion of the marine's helmet it should be done like Republic Commando's.

    it would be nice too, if you are wearing a full-helmet (the one that covers your nose and mouth)you could also hear your own breathing, like darth wader, just not that loud <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

    I absolutely f***ing adored the helmet in Republic Commando. Made the atmosphere believable. Shame the game was too short...

    If any game is to include a visible helmet, it MUST be done in the same way that RC did theirs. Visible, but not too blocking of view...

    +minimap idea:
    how about if you press the +showmap button a laser draws it to your helmet, partly transparently?
    or it zooms out from the upper right corner of the helmet?

    +different helmets
    if a skulk would bite you in the head, the helmet may broke, but not complitely, just the glass, and it has to be welded(or it repairs itself, coz having a welder always around if you get bited is a bit annoying).
    I think light marines and heavy armor marines should have different helmet types, eg the HA's helmet wouldnt break, and it would be a bit more massive

    I mentioned Star Wars: Republic Commando for the HUD about half a year ago. Flayra said that he too liked the HUD- so let's hope we get something similar.

    That sick helmet modded for NS, and you have your self an immersive game my friends. I felt like I was really in the star wars suit thing just looking at that screen shot :/

    Cool ideas my friend. Just to add on though, what you could also do to make it even more immersive is have alien blood splatter on your helmet and it drips off maybe, or if you get attacked by an alien your helmet starts to crack maybe and it makes the game more difficult for the player. Again it would be neat. It could be a server option to have turned on or off. Just opinions.

    if you watch one of the very first NS trailer's with the movie sequence you'll see what it should look like in first person view.
    I like the idea but it shouldn't be exaggerated. The amount of ammo should be displayed in the helmet HUD, same for health etc.

    Something else I'm still wondering about is, where is the flashlight located? On the rifle? The helmet?

    Most people when they first think of realism eliminate the UI completely and dont give it a second thought. But all the UI is is substituting the lack of using all your five senses in the game. A health bar, if made as a figure of a player on the screen and indicating where damage is as well as how severe it is, is about as realistic as it would get. You can physically feel it in real life, but there is no feel in a video game - there needs to be a substitute. The same goes for most of everything else - direction of damage shown on screen, fatigue bars, breath while underwater, etc. As for ammo, the number of clips at the very least should be displayed, because constantly looking down at your person on a video game is a bit more annoying than doing it in real life.

    If there were any changes to the UI, I'd just suggest a figure showing how severe damage is and where. Thats probably my favorite feature of any game that employs it.

    Nice suggestions , i think it would be cool to add a blood fx not only to the players screen if it spatters but also to the players gun/hands.(first/third person)

    i also think blood should stain the suite of a player too it would be good eye candy

    aliens could also get a new UI, eg, the energy bar could be gland, which is full, when your energy is full, and empty if you dont have energy (a transparent gland, for example inside the skulks mouth)
